University of Rochester Sr Residency/Fellowship Admin in Rochester, New York

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Works under the general direction of the Child Neurology Residency Director and Neurology Clerkship Director with latitude for exercise of independent judgement and initiative. Operates as a member of the education leadership team and demonstrates considerable autonomy and judgement in daily program operations. Provide administrative support to the program director and clerkship director in accreditation efforts, educational programing and support of residents and medical students. Serves as an important liaison with learners, faculty and other staff members.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operations:

Collaborates with Residency Program Directors and Clerkship Directors about accreditation requirements. Interprets and analyzes program requirements, institutional policies and procedures and data. Makes recommendations to the Program Director and Clerkship Director and advises on changes to the program based on anticipated needs, new or changing program and institution requirements, and implements changes. Provides high-level programmatic management, analysis and interpretation of residency and medical student programs through comprehensive UME and GME knowledge. Informs and advises directors on administrative activities. Find opportunities to improve operations through internal reports and performance metrics. Ensure completion of various surveys and reports.

Direct and manage the academic and day-to-day operational activities for the Child Neurology Graduate Medical Education Residency Program. Neurology residency program complement consists of 10 trainees (6 in Neurology years and 4 in Pediatrics years) including coordination of clinical block schedules. Ensure Residency Program compliance with ACGME. Provide accurate completion of ACGME WebADS. Assist Program Director in completing the data for the Annual Program Evaluation and self-study process.

Residency Recruitment:

Ensure deadlines are met for registering for the NRMP and ERAS. Manage 3 months of residency recruitment, review/screen approximately 110 residency applications, make recommendations to the Program Director and Associate Program Director on who to invite for interview. Each year we interview approximately 40 applicants. Interact with faculty and residents to arrange interviews for appropriate applicants. Work with the Program Director and participate in the Residency Selection Committee to score and rank applicants for the Neurology Residency Matching Program (NRMP).

Human Resources ¿ Neurology Education Division:

Process and monitor personnel action forms for Child Neurology residency positions. Currently oversee a total of 10 Neurology residents. Monitor resident for appropriate FTEs. This includes changes to salary, salary distributions, reappointments, extra compensation, terminations, leaves of absence, vacation, resident benefits, etc. Arrange appropriate appointments for University contracts, URMC email accounts and eRecord training, Maintain confidential personnel files for current/alumni residents and fellows. Manage HR requirements for residents (moonlighting, employee benefits, vacation, disability, sick leave, maternity, etc.). Arrange orientation programs for new hire.

Coordinator for all 3 rd and 4 th year Student Experiences:

Identify, evaluate and supervise all student activities. Direct and coordinate the assignment and orientation of students. Develop, implement and evaluate educational and grading activities. Coordinate all student rotations and site assignments through communication with students and review of student surveys as to their personal interests and goals. Oversee with considerable autonomy, the matching of student interest to sites. Manage and coordinate the student¿s call schedule and bedside skills evaluation (BSE) schedule through communications with students, clerkship director, faculty, and chief residents (20 evaluations every quarter to arrange, monitor, and collect results).Oversee the administration of the Student Interest Group in Neurology (SIGN) program, including arranging for preliminary meetings, managing the annual budget, booking rooms and arranging for any food.

Database Mgmt:

Analyze and report results; ensure completion of various surveys and reports. Compile reports on behalf of department program directors for GME and ACGME. (Quality indicator collection tool, Annual Program Evaluation (APE), and SWOT analysis (GME program outcomes). Manage web-based ABPN pre-CERT Credentialing system for Neurology Residency Program. Enter appropriate data for resident clinical training and clinical skills evaluations; monitor and maintain the ABPN database for credentialing residents to sit for the ABPN certifying board exam. Maintain alumni resident and fellowship database system.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • 4 years of relevant experience required

  • One year of relevant experience in Undergraduate and/or Graduate Medical Education preferred

Pay Range

Pay Range: $55,955 - $78,336 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
