Compensation Range:

$53,500.00 - $74,900.00

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

Performs professional accounting work with responsibility in one or more areas of the University accounting system such as financial reporting, cost analysis and distribution, classification of accounts and funds, study of accounting systems and sponsored programs accounting. (Concentration on type and intensity of work performed varies according to functional areas integrally related to supervisory responsibilities).Responsibilities GENERAL PURPOSE: This position oversees the day to day workings of the Business Office and manage faculty's grants. These functions are critical to the research operations of the Department. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: - With significant independence, oversees the daily accounting of grants, checks work done by the Staff Accounts for grants, reviews and approves transactions handled by the staff accountants. Generates appropriate reports to oversee the status of faculty grants. Reviews the monthly ledgers generated by the Staff Accountants, checks for issues. - Supervises two staff accountants and 1 accounting bookkeeper IV. Sets appropriate standards of performance. Assists them with problems as they arise. - Trains accounting staff in how to use Departmental and University accounting systems including FileMaker and Workday. Creates databases and spreadsheets as needed. Keeps up to date on systems, rules, and regulations. Recommend changes to the Department and University. - Ensures compliance with all University and Government rules and regulations regarding grants. Creates and manages systems that assist with this. Recommends to the Assistant Chair appropriate measures to take. Interfaces with the Government and University Officials regarding grant issues. Reviews data and reports, analyzes what this information means, and take appropriate action - Forecasts faculty spending/income needs. With the Department Manager, meets with faculty and review their financial status on all accounts, discusses with faculty their future needs and recommends courses of action to meet those needs. Prevents deficits. - Oversees special requests from the Department, Dean, University and Government. Determines how to best meet the needs of the requests and develop systems to do so. Decides the personnel needs and assign and train appropriately. Reviews the generated work product for appropriateness and accuracy. Communicates the results to the necessary parties and recommends courses of action when appropriate. Other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in a business related field (i.e. Accounting, finance, etc.) or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and skills required. - 3 years experience as a staff accountant; or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
