Compensation Range:

$20.38 - $28.56

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Responsibilities:

Provides bilingual translation services to the target language or to Limited English Proficient (LEP) throughout the University for patients, their families and others.Responsibilities Position Title: Spanish Interpreter Service Area: UR Medicine Age of Patient Population Served: All X Neonatal X Pediatric: age 1-12 X Adolescent: age 13-17 X Adult: age 18-64 X Geriatric: age 65General Responsibilities The Spanish interpreter provides interpreting services for all clinical and professional University of Rochester Medical Center staff, patients and family members/significant others who are with the patient. All Interpreters on staff generally provide these services during normal business hours at the Medical Center, Outpatient Clinics, and Hospital Affiliates. Specific Responsibilities Completes scheduled training and other required staff activities. - Yearly mandatory online policy and procedure training - Yearly health updates - Attends staff meetings - Other training/activities as necessary Completes all paperwork and administrative duties. - eRecord completed at the end of each patient interaction - Database entries based on completed schedules and requests - On-Call log (blue book) if applicable - Yearly certification update if applicable - Professional development transcripts - Other paperwork and assignments as necessary Performs clinical duties. - Interpreter carries a pager assigned by the hospital responding to all pages immediately. - Interpreter interprets all assignments, whether prescheduled or via pager, in a timely and professional manner in accordance with hospital policy. Supervision, Accountability, and Evaluation Supervision - The Spanish interpreter is supervised by the Lead for Spanish Interpreter Services. Accountability - The Spanish interpreter is accountable to the Lead of Spanish Interpreter Services for implementation of the job responsibilities set forth in this job description, adherence to Hospital and Social Work and Patient & Family Services policies, procedures and standards of interpreter conduct and adherence to the NCIHC Codes of Ethics and Standards of Practice. - The Spanish Interpreter arranges coverage and contacts supervisor if commitment to scheduled work cannot be fulfilled. Evaluation - An evaluation is conducted at the end of the first six months of employment, and annually thereafter by the Lead for Spanish Interpreter Services. Professional Qualifications - Experience interpreting in a health care setting is required. - Minimum of 48 hours training in Medical Interpreting preferred. - Certification by IMIA, CCHI, NCIHC or ATA preferred at time of employment or within 18 months of employment. - Bachelor degree strongly preferred.
