Your role

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager Global,

JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Buyer will focus on operational and tactical processes and procedures to the support Group and Site strategies for assigned Direct and Indirect material purchases. Responsibilities will include identifying, qualifying, negotiating, and implementing / monitoring key contracts for identified high risk sources of supply for raw materials, packaging, capital sources and key service suppliers. The Senior Buyer is responsible for supporting internal and external customer needs by reducing lead-times, minimizing downtime, and facilitating process improvements while driving cost reduction / cost avoidance initiatives for the Rochester, NY site.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Purchasing Strategy and Process Alignment with Group and Site Goals

  • Implement procurement processes and best practices for all areas of responsibility. (Direct/ Committed)

  • Deploy and facilitate implementation of Group process improvements and continuous improvement projects at Rochester Site. (Partner/ Committed)

  • Collaborate with internal business units and drive strategic alignment within the organization to support long-term Group and Site level sourcing strategies (Fair/ Open-Minded/ Challenging/ Partner)

  • Standardize procurement processes across the organization in support of cost reductions and improved supplier performance (Direct/ True/ Challenging)

  • Communicate and enforce site compliance to local purchasing Standard Operating Procedures. (Partner)

  • Participate and support budget preparation and monthly reporting metrics (rebates, delivery performance, PPV, successes, etc.). (Partner/ Committed)

  • Seek out and communicate sustainability opportunities to support Company environmental impact reduction goals. (Curious/ Challenging)

Supplier Management and Contracts

  • Negotiate contracts, terms (pricing, marketing fees, rebates, etc.), and service level agreements (as applicable) with assigned suppliers and/or categories. (Direct/ Open-Minded)

  • Hold Suppliers to negotiated performance standards (e.g., on time deliveries, quality, cost, etc.). (Direct/ True)

  • Implement and participate in supplier evaluations of existing suppliers. (True/ Reliable)

Cost Reduction and Service Support

  • Gather technical data and specifications to conduct benchmarking exercises of existing and potential product and service providers for assigned spend categories. (Challenging)

  • Drive departmental / company cost savings goals (Positive/ Direct)

Track all sourcing and procurement related projects within scope and identify new opportunities for value creation. (Committed/ Curious)

  • Ability to utilize and ERP system (JDE a plus) to assist and mentor value chain partners, as needed, to support tactical order creation. (Reliable/ Partner)

    Your profile

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field

  • Minimum 5+ years manufacturing purchasing experience

  • 3-5 years experience with contract negotiation and contract administration

  • Experience in a regulated industry (FDA / cGMP) preferred

SPECIFIC SKILLS:

  • Specialized skills required are (but not limited to) knowledge of business law, economics, negotiations, finance, materials requirements planning, computer operations, inventory control techniques, value analysis, forecasting, cost/price analysis, all internal systems impacting purchasing, construction and use of standard costs, production processes (internal and at suppliers), accounting, markets impacting items/products purchased, and short- and long-range planning.

  • Ability to negotiate effectively with a variety of supplier types while looking out for the company’s best interest and at the same time, assuring that the supplier is not being compromised toward agreement to something which is beyond their capabilities.

  • Ability to translate technical requirements to fit within the procurement process (i.e., request for quotations/bids, Supply Agreements and other contracts, purchase orders, specification development, etc.)

  • Must demonstrate strong verbal, written, negotiating and analytical skills

  • Must demonstrate a proven track record of the ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced, and challenging environment to effectively meet deadlines

  • Must be a motivated self-starter

  • Must have a demonstrated high level of interpersonal and communication skills to work across functional and organizational lines with uncompromising ethics

  • Must possess demonstrated knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) processes (JDE a Plus)

    Compensation range

    93,000.00 - 100,000.00 USD

    *The referenced compensation range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
