Description

The Network Health and Prevention Program in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester invites applications for a Senior Associate role. With an overarching commitment to the development and assessment of prevention initiatives—including those focusing on suicide, workplace well-being, and youth programs—the Network Health and Prevention Program is at the forefront of impactful population-oriented prevention research. A significant part of our endeavors includes an expanding military/uniformed service research program, including our flagship Wingman/Guardian Connect program, which is undergoing a force wide expansion funded by the US Air Force and an effectiveness-implementation trial to test the program funded by NIH. In addition, our pilot projects, such as the adaptation of the “Connect” program model for police, funded by NY-OMH, hold promising opportunities for growth, potentially extending to collaborations with the US Army and other branches.

  • Participate in research, development, and adaptation of the Connect Programs, extending its reach to novel settings in other military branches (e.g. Army and Navy), as well as community contexts, including police and first-responders.

  • Spearhead new USAF program extensions, specifically addressing identified gaps, such as the need for specialized officer/leader training within the Connect Program.

  • Act as a vital liaison with partners, facilitating the translational development, adaptation, and dissemination of our evidence-based prevention programs.

  • Offer pivotal contributions to ongoing projects, encompassing aspects like leader engagement, project team support, and strategic planning.

  • Lead project management across various programs, institutionalizing and instructing staff on advanced project management tools and software to ensure the meticulous accomplishment of research objectives.

  • Participate in the generation of manuscripts and research reports for publication and funders.

  • Make significant contributions in teaching community members and other constituents relevant to the aims of the project.

Qualifications

Candidate must possess at least 10 years of military experience, experience in a university setting, and demonstrate a keen interest in advancing the mission of the CSPS and the broader Network Health and Prevention Program.
