Heritage Christian Services Senior Accounting Manager - Foundation and Property in Rochester, New York
Overview
Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accounting Manager – Foundation and Property will be responsible for general accounting functions including the monthly close and financial reporting for the organization. The Senior Accounting Manager will directly supervise entry level staff and senior accounting staff. To support the mission, vision, and values of Heritage Christian Services, Inc.
Pay rate for this position: $ 66435 / yr - $88587 / yr
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above range represents the organization's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting
Responsibilities
Support the month-end close process by ensuring timely and accurate reporting for Property and the Foundation.
Manage the close calendar and the related internal and cross-functional communications, with a focus on improving processes and creating efficiencies.
Review and post monthly journal entries prepared by accounting staff for accuracy and accounting classifications
Review of monthly and quarterly account reconciliations
Accurately prepare monthly financial statements and supporting documentation for the Foundation and Agency
Supervision of accounting staff
Participate in hiring, training and development of departmental staff in a manner necessary to achieve departmental goals and objectives
Assist with the development and implementation of internal controls, accounting policies and procedures to ensure the proper accounting methods and systems
Assist with external and regulatory audits
Support business and department goals and initiatives as needed
Participate in ad-hoc projects as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business management
Five plus years of accounting experience, preferably with some experience in the not-for-profit environment
Prior supervisory experience
CPA license is required
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Strong mathematical and analytical skills
Evidence of the practice of high level of confidentiality
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
