St. John Fisher College Security Officer in Charge in Rochester, New York

Overview:

St. John Fisher University is an independent, liberal arts institution that provides a transformative education to approximately 3,800 undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students each year. Job Responsibilities:

• Performs all security functions and patrols (35%)

• Enforce college regulations (5%)

• Provide aid and assistance in emergencies (2%)

• Respond to, investigate and prepare reports on criminal complaints (3%)

• Fire alarms, injuries, accidents and illnesses (2%)

• Lock and unlock campus buildings as required (5%)

• Provide traffic/parking control of vehicles on campus (5%)

• Provide security escorts to students, staff and faculty when requested (3%)

• Acts as Shift Supervisor (35%)

• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or department (5%)

Education / Experience:

AAS degree in Criminal Justice preferred or combination of experience and education. Minimum of 2 years of experience in security/public safety preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be New York State Security Guard trained and registered. A valid NYS Driver License with minimal convictions.

Competencies / Skills:

Must have working knowledge of the security function as well as New York State Penal and Traffic laws and be familiar with approved safety and security standards for college security.

Supervision of Employees:

When acting as Supervisor – supervises shift officers, dispatchers, shuttle drivers and student assistants.

Work Hours:

This is a full time C shift position (11PM-7AM) working a 4/2 – 5/2 work-wheel.

This position is 40 hrs. per week and is a

12 month position
