Compensation Range:

$18.33 - $24.76

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

Training program to produce high quality X-ray images by conducting exams in a safe and efficient manner. Has the ability to verify and follow referring providers' orders while remaining in compliance with the Imaging Sciences departmental policies. Possesses a sound understanding of human anatomy as well as x-ray positioning and the use if immobilization devices when warranted.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists technologist in preparing room and patient per order as well as properly setting up equipment and position patients. Observes the technologist as they determine proper exposure factors in order to produce a high quality image. Observes the technologist as they monitor each patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to meet his or her age-specific needs. Assists with alerting imaging RN if any patient status changes are noted.

  • Assists with maintaining appropriate supplies in the x-ray rooms. Observes the technologist as they maintain an established work pattern to image patients in a logical and efficient manner.

  • Observes the technologist as they produce a diagnostic, high quality image for interpretation by the Radiologist.

  • Observes the technologist as they utilize electronic patient information systems to verify patient name, date, appropriate exam, and any special exam specific comments from the provider. Understands and practices the Dual patient identifier procedure.

  • Trains on the proper technique to handle all radiologic equipment safely and properly keeping dose to patient as low as possible.

  • Assists with safely transferring patients to and from imaging tables using assistive devices such as ARJO lift, transfer boards, hover mats. Is taught how and when to call a code, location of crash carts and emergency supplies. Understands the RT role in an emergency situation. Notifies immediate supervisor and/or Clinical engineering of equipment malfunctions.

  • Observes the technologist as they maintains accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and assuring images are sent to the PACS system correctly.

  • Observes the technologist as they complete and bills for studies accurately and in a timely fashion.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology required within 3 months of hire.

Required to obtain a temporary NYS Radiologic Technologist license within 3 months of hire.

Possess temporary NYS licensure and Proof of registry for ARRT certification within 3 months of hire.

Successful completion of ARRT certification within 6 months of hire. Obtain CPR/BLS certifications if applicable.
