University of Rochester Quality & Safety Project Mgr.- Imaging in Rochester, New York

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Imaging Quality Specialist II is responsible for assisting with coordinating, monitoring, and improving quality, safety, efficiencies and services in the Department of Imaging Sciences. The Quality Specialist II is expected to assume various responsibilities as needed to further the quality goals of the department, including patient safety initiatives, QA reviews, education, management of policies and procedures, compliance, documentation auditing, data management and other responsibilities as needs arise. This position assists the Imaging Manager of Quality and Safety and the Imaging Vice Chair of Quality and Safety to promote a positive culture of safety, grow, and sustain a quality program centered on patient safety, just culture, and continuous quality improvement.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews, investigates and resolves risk and feedback events. Able to use critical thinking when performing case reviews. Coordinates focused reviews and NYPORTS short forms. Facilitates root cause analysis (RCA). Writes clearly and informatively when documenting events on case review forms and other department/hospital forms for internal and external reporting.

  • Partners with Quality Administrator in the execution of department-based quality and safety initiatives, continuous quality improvement, and faculty/operational compliance. Serves as backup to Quality Administrator as needed. This may include representing the department at Medical Error Risk Management (MERM) and Patient Safety Risk Management (PSRM). Facilitates MRI Safety Committee and Contrast Committee meetings, and other department meetings as needed. Participates in Dose Optomization meetings.

  • Collect, analyze and summarize quality and safety trends and data, compile information into reports, and present reports. Identify trends for improvement opportunities (Patient falls, contrast extravasation, etc.).

  • Using PI methodology, assists in sustained and measurable improvements while working collaboratively with Imaging Quality Project Manager (PI Coach). Analyzes data, audits, creates charts as needed to support process improvement projects.

  • Serves as resource for The Joint Commission preparedness- auditing compliance at SMH and off sites.

  • Maintains a current and working knowledge of image acquisition process, IT systems and workflows for all imaging modalities and faculty divisions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • 5 years relevant experience required.

  • 2 years at a managerial level required.

  • Imaging/Radiology experience required.

  • or equivalent combination of education and experience required/strongly preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred.

  • Excellent multi-tasking, prioritization capabilities, communication and time management skills preferred.

  • Previous experience in quality assurance, performance improvement or similar field preferred.

  • Working knowledge of tools, methods, and concepts of quality and performance improvement preferred.

  • Ionizing radiation dose index preferred.

  • Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse (RN) or Radiologic Technologist license required.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $81,307 - $105,706 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
