University of Rochester Psychometrist in Rochester, New York

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Psychometrist is a member of the clinical team, who administers and scores cognitive, achievement, neuropsychological, behavioral, developmental, emotional, and diagnostic test measures, in order to assist Psychologists in diagnostic and treatment decision-making. The Psychometrist provides technical support, including medical chart and literature review to inform testing and clinical decision making, as well as eRecord data entry and documentation. The Psychometrist participates in team meetings and feedback sessions and assists with research projects and quality improvement projects. Demonstrates ICARE* values in each of the major responsibilities.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Conducts medical and educational record review of patients prior to clinical appointments. Records and makes specific observations of patient’s behavior during testing in both written and verbal formats. Scores administered measures and documents scores for review by the medical provider or clinical researcher in both written and verbal formats. Organizes clinically pertinent patient information in written format for medical professional or clinical researcher to review.

  2. Communicates in a professional manner with medical professionals, clinical researchers, patients, families, community providers and others within the university.

  3. Summarizes medical and educational data in eRecord and from schools in a concise manner.

  4. Documents findings in eRecord for team members to review.

  5. Directs patient contact involving administration of standardized psycho- educational and developmental measures following clinical protocols.

  6. Demonstrates the ability to organize and set-up an assessment room and standardized test measures for administration to children and adolescents with and without developmental disabilities.

  7. Demonstrates advanced clinical judgement/skills during test administration, including test discontinuation, deviation from standardized instructions and modifications during the assessment process to meet the individual needs of the patient.

  8. Assists with clinical decision-making and treatment planning, such as data gathering for diagnostic evaluations and treatment intervention sessions, under the supervision of a psychologist.

  9. Presents clinical topics with faculty, including hospital Grand Rounds, department meetings, professional conferences, ADOS training, and community-based presentations.

Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or a related field required.

  • Master’s Degree preferred.

  • 2 years of relevant experience preferred.

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Experience working with an interdisciplinary medical or clinical research team a pediatric setting, and using electronic medical record systems required.

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, as well as verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to summarize clinical records, literature reviews and clinical and research test data required.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with medical professionals, clinical researchers, children and families, and disability advocates required.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $25.03 - $35.04 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
