Compensation Range:

$17.00 - $22.10

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

This individual is responsible for assisting the pharmacy staff with general duties that will provide support to pharmacy technicians and pharmacists in the pharmacy.

Often in a short term (< 6 months) capacity, provide project support to cross-functional teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Medication Delivery

  • Organizing and sending medications to the patient care units utilizing the pneumatic tube delivery system, assuring that medications are delivered to the correct location and in a timely manner. Any medication requiring verification by a pharmacist will not be sent until verification is complete.

  • Hand delivering medications to the patient care units as requested by pharmacy technicians or pharmacists. These will typically include medications that cannot be sent via the tube system due to stability concerns, or medications that are needed STAT.

  • The assistant is not allowed to handle or deliver controlled substances to the patient care areas.

Inventory Management/Stocking

  • This individual will maintain and replenish inventory of medications and supplies in the main pharmacy area to assure they are available as needed by pharmacy staff.

  • Return inventory to stock when it is returned from patient care units or other areas of the hospital. The individual will assure that all returned stock is still within its expiration date and that the label matches the products that are stored in that location.

Phone Triage and General Communication

  • Assist pharmacy staff with triaging general phone calls. Calls requiring the knowledge and judgement of pharmacists or technicians must be forwarded to the correct individual.

  • Answering phone or other inquiries of a general nature (not requiring a pharmacist or technician).

  • Application of proper service recovery communications and actions as needed.

  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

Miscellaneous

  • General tidying and organizing of the main pharmacy area to maintain a neat and efficient work environment.

  • Offering ideas and recommendations for increased efficiency of processes in the main pharmacy.

  • Performance of other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Basic understanding of computers and data entry required.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills required.

  • Excellent attention to detail required.
