Description

The High Energy Physics group at the University of Rochester is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position to work on the LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ) dark matter experiment. The successful applicant will have a strong background in particle physics and electronics, will make strong and identifiable contributions to the analysis of LZ data, and will take a leadership role in the operation and management of the electronics and data acquisition system of LZ. Our current focus is on employing AI/ML methods to enhance background rejection, the study of rare astrophysical neutrinos signals in LZ, studying the effect of hydrogen doping of xenon on detector signals using Hydrox, and extending the operational life of LZ. The group is also designing electronics and data acquisition solutions for the next generation dark matter detector intended to succeed LZ. The position will be based in Rochester and is initially funded for one year, with the possibility of extensions.

Qualifications

PhD in Physics.
