Job Description:

*Highland Hospital is seeking a Part Time Palliative Care Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (APP) to join its team. Candidates for this role would work 3 days a week, 8 hour shifts, Monday - Friday. Some call responsibilities but are compensated extra.

Some duties include but are not limited to:

One day a week

• To admit and execute orders on adult patients requiring in-house medical coverage, after resident teams have filled, from the services of Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, subspecialties, Hospitalists, Geriatricians. Obtains detailed sign-out from the PA teams, to assist in evening cross-coverage and any medical issues the PA teams need to follow up. To convey pertinent patient medical problems to the covering attending so a medical treatment plan can be formed.

Two days a week

• see outpatient Palliative Care patients in the POB at Highland Hospital

Salary Range:

$98,000.00 - $126,235.00 annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Job Requirements:

1. Education: Meets the educational requirements to practice as NY State Licensed Adult/Family or Geriatric NP or Physician Assistant.

2. Experience: Home care, hospice/palliative care, inpatient care

3. License/Certification Required: Currently registered New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse or Registered Physician Assistant with Certification

4. Skills: Demonstrated excellence in written and spoken communication, particularly with complex chronic medical disease, end of life issues, and complicated family systems. Personal mode of transportation required in order to complete the home visits.
