Role Overview

In collaboration with process engineering, system design engineering and business development, the Printing & Plating Technician (PPT) is involved in the operations of production scale equipment to generate customer samples, prototypes, and product for printed electronics applications. This is a position requiring flexibility and versatility. The Printed Electronics organization uses production-scale assets and processes for both development and production work. Processes include flexographic printing, electroless plating, end-of-line testing and packaging. The PPT will be cross trained on all processes and is expected to develop sufficient mastery for independent work in all aspects of the manufacturing process flow. 85% of time is spent in either a Class 6 or 7 clean room, with the remaining time spent in a lab or warehouse environment.

Responsibilities:

• Interpret instructions and execute work orders utilizing production scale assets. This will vary from day to day, including the following:

o Setup and operate equipment to image, inspect, cut and mount flexographic plates to be press ready.

o Setup and operate printing press, including print quality inspection and evaluation.

o Setup and operate electroless plating lines, including taking chemical samples, product handling and inspection.

o Chemical pumping from drums to tanks.

o Setup and operate end-of-line test and packaging equipment.

o General material handling tasks including the use of motorized and non-motorized carts, fork lifts, and bridge crane.

• Collaborate with peers and team leaders to accomplish major objectives for the day while balancing workload, rotating job assignments, and completing routine tasks that are documented but not otherwise specified by supervision.

• Identify problem conditions and escalate to technical staff and supervision.

• Perform routine cleaning and minor maintenance of production assets.

• As needed, write and maintain standard operating procedures either independently or in collaboration with process engineering.

• Routinely learn new tasks and adapt to new processes.

• Comply with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 Quality Management System requirements.

Required Skills:

• Required Education: High School Graduate or GED Certificate

• Years of Experience: 1 to 3 years

• Operate equipment in Class 6 & 7 cleanrooms with full head-to-toe gowning and adherence to clean room protocols.

• Proficient in basic math functions and computer skills, including navigating screens, data entry, and email.

• Able to obtain a powered industrial truck (fork truck) license at Kodak.

• Able to be qualified as a full-face respirator user at Kodak.

• Work effectively with minimal supervision.

• Ability to prioritize work to meet business needs.

• Express oneself and communicate clearly, both written and verbal, and comprehend a variety of work requests.

• Maintain a clean work area.

• Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures and quality standards.

• Dependable, maintain good attendance.

Desired Skills:

• Experience working in a clean room environment.

• Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Experience with chemical handling.

• Flexographic printing experience.

• Forklift experience.

Physical Requirements:

• Work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 10 hours).

• Reach, bend, stoop, push, pull, and occasionally lift, up to 50 pounds.

• Occasionally work in some awkward positions.

• Wear protective clothing and/or Personal Protective Equipment required by the work environment or governmental regulations. This routinely includes clean room garments, safety glasses with side shields, and safety shoes. Specific tasks may additionally require hearing protection, face shield, apron, or full face respirator.

• Pass medical exams required for powered industrial truck license and respirator fit test.
