Fedcap Maintenance Worker in Rochester, New York

We are hiring in Rochester, NY! Join us at Easterseals NY for an exciting career as a Full-time Maintenance Worker.

Salary Range: $22-23/hr.

Position Summary:

Assist maintenance supervisor and/or subcontractor personnel to ensure accurate project completion. Facilitate repairs at the school and all residential locations.

Essential Functions:

  • Complete job assignments for maintenance staff at Easter Seal satellite locations.

  • Assist maintenance staff and supervisor with project completion.

  • Monitor subcontractors to ensure work is completed properly.

  • Maintain Easter Seals facilities as assigned, in a safe, functional, and habitable condition.

  • Maintain all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, making repairs when necessary. Call reporting supervisor when outside contractor or other types of assistance are required.

  • Conduct and document monthly fire drills.

  • Perform rough and finish carpentry including framing, hanging sheetrock and finishing walls, hanging doors, installing locks, repairing windows, and building and installing shelves, cabinets, etc.

  • Perform electrical repairs including replacing and installing switches, plugs, new light fixtures, exhaust fans, etc.

  • Perform plumbing repairs including unstopping drains, sweating new copper lines, installing faucets, disposals, dishwashers, etc.

  • Paint interior and exterior of buildings in professional manner.

  • Paint interior and exterior of buildings in professional manner.

  • Maintain grounds of Easter Seal properties including shrubs, trees, lawns, mulch beds, parking lots, sidewalks, gutters, catch basins, etc.

  • Interact with staff and clients in a cordial and professional manner.

  • Assist in keeping Easter Seal clients and staff in a safe and secure environment.

  • Assist outside contractors when necessary.

  • Assist in office moves, meeting setups and breakdowns, and special events including setup, breakdown, and cleanup.

  • Work with minimal supervision.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

  • Two (2) years of experience in a health or welfare agency.

  • Two (2) years’ experience in the building/construction trade as a carpenter.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
