University of Rochester Ld Institutional Rsrch Analyst in Rochester, New York

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for federal, state and institutional reporting within the Office for Data Insights and Reporting (ODIR). This role involves developing, administering, and optimizing processes that integrate comprehensive reporting with academic decision support. Sets long-range goals, aligns reporting initiatives with the university's academic mission, and leads the strategic planning of resources and personnel.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as the lead external reporting specialist in ODIR by managing and executing all major external reporting requirements, including but not limited to NYSED, USNews, IPEDS, and Open Doors submissions. Oversees the collection, validation, and analysis of institutional data to ensure accuracy and compliance with external reporting standards.

  • Oversees staff management including recruitment, direct supervision, conducting performance evaluations, reviewing compensation as appropriate, developing and ensuring completion of job-related education, managing corrective discipline process, and employee relations. Assigns tasks, sets priorities, and establishes deadlines within ODIR to ensure timely completion of all reporting projects. Conducts regular sub-team meetings, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

  • Works with ODIR team members to develop and manage project plans that leverage data science techniques for external reporting. Recommends and implements data science processes to optimize existing external reporting workflows including, but not limited to: code-based report creation and automated reporting.

  • Collaborates with individuals from other offices to manage data required for federal, state, and institutional reporting. Builds and maintains strong working relationships across departments to ensure accurate and timely data collection.

  • Leads initiatives to enhance Rochester's participation and standing within the AAUDE and COFHE communities. Ensures timely and accurate data submissions to these organizations, fostering Rochester's reputation as a reliable and engaged member.

  • Manages diverse institutional reporting tasks including the UR Fact Book compilation and dissemination, coordination of regular meetings with the Registrar's office, and specific external reporting projects such as Financial Value Transparency.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Master's degree preferred.

  • 8 years of relevant experience required;

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Experience with relational databases preferred.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments required.

  • Capacity to embrace changing reporting requirements and adapt to new technologies required.

  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations and compliance requirements in higher education required.

  • Skilled in database management and the ability to work with large, complex datasets required.

  • Ability to work independently and successfully complete assigned tasks on time with limited oversight required.

  • In-depth understanding of higher education reporting requirements preferred.

  • Strong grasp of statistical analysis methods and their application in higher education contexts preferred.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $70,197 - 105,295 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
