The referenced pay range represents the first and last step pay rates for this job, as set forth in the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Individual pay will be set in accordance with terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs technical and mechanical work in the inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance, repairing, adjusting, limited fabrication and cleaning of apparatus, instruments and equipment
SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION EXERCISED:
None. May coordinate activities of lower classified staff.
MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT USED:
A wide variety of hand, bench and machine shop tools, such as; band saw, welders, gauges and meters.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
Checks, troubleshoots, repairs and adjusts apparatus, instruments and equipment according to specific procedures. Performs necessary electrical and electronic work on beds, lifts and other related equipment. Fabricates parts not requiring extensive machining.
Works from blue prints, sketches, wiring diagrams and verbal instructions or from experience in completing mechanical, electrical, electronic assignments and/or diagnosing apparatus, instruments and equipment.
Performs cleaning of equipment, instruments and apparatus in accordance with approved maintenance procedures to assure that electrical, electronic and mechanical components are protected. Instructs Housekeeping in basic cleaning of equipment. Instructs Nursing staff in proper operating procedures of equipment.
Performs basic and routine level work commonly assigned to other trades, i.e. carpentry or electrical, where performance of such tasks is incidental to performance of the mechanical work or is required in response to an emergency situation.
Keeps records and makes daily reports of work.
Complies with safety regulations of the University and of Local, State, and Federal Agencies.
Maintains cleanliness of work area and insures that tools and equipment are kept in good working order.
Performs other duties requiring comparable skills and responsibility as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma plus 2-3 years experience in an electrical/mechanical or related environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
