The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
In a CoreLab setting, responsible for all of the functions of processing tissue samples for histological diagnosis by a pathologist including grossing, embedding, microtomy, special stains and processing Immunohistochemistry slides. Performs maintenance on laboratory equipment including but not limited to preventative, routine and troubleshooting.
The histology technician is responsible for all of the functions of processing tissue samples for histological diagnosis by a pathologist. This includes grossing, embedding, microtomy, special stains and processing Immunohistochemistry slides.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Gross sections of human tissue for examination.
Operates laboratory equipment to embed, section and stain specimens.
Operate equipment to perform special staining and Immunohistochemistry stains as requested. Some manual staining may be required.
Examine slides under microscope to ensure that slides meet laboratory quality standards.
Follows all departmental and organizational policies, procedures, quality objectives and safety standards and keeps current with changes in laboratory processes and procedures.
Performs maintenance on laboratory equipment including but not limited to preventative, routine and troubleshooting.
Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
AAS required
Previous experience as a histology technician preferred
Anatomy, histology, chemistry preferred
NYS HT license required
NYS MT or MLT accepted required
