Description

The Department of Surgery at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry is seeking a Chief of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery to join the faculty at the Associate Professor or Professor level. The Division has a strong history of academic excellence and currently consists of seven faculty members with a scope of practice that provides total care for every aspect of reconstructive surgery, including expertise in Burn, Adult and Pediatric Craniofacial, Breast Reconstruction, Microvascular Reconstruction, Gender Affirming Care, Complex Soft Tissue Reconstruction, Hand, Complex Wound Management and Peripheral Nerve Surgery. The Division Chief also leads a highly competitive Integrated Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery training program with a total of 12 trainees (2 slots per year). The research enterprise within the Division consists of several clinical trials and funded translational science investigation in peripheral nerve reconstruction and neuropathy.

The City of Rochester is a mecca for the arts: home to a philharmonic orchestra, wonderful museums including the Strong National Museum of Play, internationally recognized dance companies as well as The Eastman School of Music. The Rochester International Jazz Festival is one of the top 10 Jazz festivals in the nation. The region boasts access to great watersports both on Lake Ontario as well as the Finger Lakes. The Finger Lakes region is also home to many internationally known wineries. Rochester has a rich history and was the last stop on the underground railroad and the place Frederick Douglass called home. It is also the location of the Susan B. Anthony House making Rochester the epicenter of the woman's suffrage movement.

The successful candidate will be an established, clinically active plastic surgeon, an exceptional academic physician-leader with proven values and skills needed to provide programmatic and academic leadership. The ideal candidate will be nationally recognized as a thought leader in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and have a track record of success in clinical excellence, research and education.

The referenced pay range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the base range of compensation for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries. Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
