The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Analyzes problems, provides complex program specifications, develops or modifies programs, assists in the scheduling of programming projects, and supervises the technical activities of assigned personnel.Schedule 8 AM-5 PM Responsibilities GENERAL PURPOSE The Data Management Engineer III for the URMC Enterprise Data Management team will be responsible for the design, development and support for reporting projects as they relate to the URMC's Clinical, Revenue Cycle Data, Quality and Research areas. Under general direction of the Senior Manager - Data Management Development, the Data Engineer III will be the key interface in operationalizing data and analytics on behalf of the business unit(s) and organizational outcomes. This role will require both creative and collaborative working with IT and the wider business. It will involve evangelizing effective data management practices and promoting better understanding of data and analytics. The Data Engineer III will also be tasked with working with key business stakeholders, IT experts and subject-matter experts to plan and deliver optimal analytics and data science solutions. This position will interact with multiple disciplines of the Medical Center including, but not limited to Clinical, Financial, Quality, Research, Operations to ensure data services needs are met. Other responsibilities include adherence to change management and control, service requests intake documentation and process documentation. Assignment of additional projects and requests to perform analysis and programming addressing challenging tasks may be assigned as needed. RESONSIBILITIES Database Development: - Responsible for SQL Server development by understanding the security model and schema objects including tables, indexes and applied constraints, functions, stored procedures, Views and advance T-SQL programming - Supports the data architect to provide best solutions to meet project's data needs Technical Leadership: - Provides technical leadership and mentorship to team members - Evaluates team members work efforts and provides performance feedback. - Assigns work items to other team members. - Receives direction from Data Management Sr Manager. Data warehouse design and development: - Understands and learns EMR workflows to translate between the transactional systems and the data repository - Develops standard dimensional data model optimized for performance and ease of reporting - Develops integrated administration tools for managing and monitoring the Data Warehouse Learns new technologies related to virtual data warehousing Managing Projects: - Works with clinical, financial and business requirements related to reporting applications support for the UR Medicine eco-system of applications Build data pipelines - Performs proper testing and validation techniques to ensure accuracy and integrity of reported or extracted data and documents the unit test and validation processes used - Develops new and supports maintenance of existing reports and data sets contributing to maintaining the report inventory Other responsibilities: - Obtains and maintain Data Model and/or reporting tools certifications or training as needed and/or maintains current knowledge via self-study for reporting tools and reporting programming techniques - Provides on call support as needed for business continuity and operations QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor's degree in a related discipline such as Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Science or Engineering required; - Graduate degree preferred - 4-5 years of related experience required; - 2-3 years in a supervisory capacity preferred; - or equivalent combination of education and experience required - 7 years of related experience, with 3 years of report development experience preferred - Proven ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment required - Possess ability to analyze workflow and process build and changes and utilize technology to perform complex data analysis required - Knowledge about various architectures, patterns and protocols such as SSID, SSIS, ODBC, JDBC, unified data management architecture (UDM), event-driven architecture, real-time data flows, non-relational repositories, data virtualization, cloud enablement, etc. required - Strong experience with popular database programming languages including T-SQL, PL/SQL, others relational Database Management Systems required - Strong architectural understanding and knowledge of Data Virtualization Tools such as Denodo required - Basic experience working with popular data discovery, analytics and BI software tools like Tableau, Qlik, PowerBI and others for semantic-layer-based data discovery required - Report Development experience (one or more SQL, SSRS, Crystal Reports, Tableau, Spotfire and PowerBI) required - Healthcare information systems experience preferred - Epic Systems Caboodle Developer - (Required to obtain certification in 1st year) required The University of Rochester is committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion to advance the University's mission to Learn, Discover, Heal, Create - and Make the World Ever Better.
