This position is eligible for a $500 signing bonus!! This bonus is earned and payable as follows: 25% ($125) in the pay period following the 3-month anniversary of your employment; 25% ($125) in the pay period following the 6-month anniversary of your employment; and 50% ($250) in the pay period following the one-year anniversary of your employment
Employment: This is a full-time 37.5 hours per week position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during business hours (8:30am-4:00pm). Evening work may be required as job duties demand.
Summary/Objective: The Teaching Assistant is the primary assistant to the classroom teacher in ensuring a meaningful educational experience. The Teaching Assistant will function in a leadership role in the teachers absence.
Required Education and Experience: 1.High school diploma. 2.One year experience in an early childhood education setting. 3.NYS certification as a Teaching Assistant. 4.Knowledge of classroom management preferred. 5.Must have demonstrated commitment to performing job duties and tasks at a high level of performance.
Essential Functions: 1.Imparts agency philosophy of Equal Opportunity, Independence and Realization of Individual Potential to children, families, program staff and community resources. 2.Maintains confidentiality of information relating to individuals and their families in accordance with agency policy. 3.Functions as the primary assistant to the classroom teacher, ensuring a meaningful educational experience. 4.Functions in the leadership role in the classroom during the teachers absence. 5.Implements each childs educational, therapeutic, and behavioral plans under the supervision of the teacher and team. 6.Supervises children and ensures safety. 7.Works with individual students or groups of students on instructional projects to achieve individualized goals for each child. 8.Provides the teacher and team with information about students, which will assist in the development of appropriate learning experiences for students. 9.Assists in the development of instructional/classroom materials. 10.Assists the classroom teacher in related instructional work as required. 11.Maintains classroom cleanliness and the orderly appearance of classroom equipment, supplies and displays of childrens work. 12.Attends all meetings as required and appropriate, as determined by the classroom teacher and Program Director. 13.Assists children with behavioral/management needs. 14.Participates in conferences, workshops. Department meetings and in-service training as needed or recommended to enhance job skills and personal growth and development. 15.Adheres to agencys policies and procedures as well as department guidelines
