The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Responsibilities:
Has total responsibility for assigned audio and video productions utilizing complex skills, knowledge and judgment within the multimedia field.Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT: With general direction and considerable latitude for independent judgment, the Educational Technology Specialist is responsible for the installation of audio video systems. This includes project management, meeting with clients, performing a needs analysis, developing and designing system(s), generation of purchasing quotes, receiving equipment, coordination with other trades, installation and commission of system(s), and performing end user training. Systems include, but are not limited to, LCD flat panels, video production systems, speakers & microphones, cabling, racking and mounting AV devices, and control systems. This position often has non-standard hours, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends, and can include offsite work at affiliate and other URMC owned locations. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Meets with clients and performs proper needs analysis, develops and designs new system, keeping in mind functionality requested, current URMC standards, and budget constraints. (25%) - Performs all aspects of project management for installations from concept to completion. Works and coordinates with other trades as needed including, but not limited to, facilities, UIT, and ISD. (25%) - Performs A/V installations as part of the CEL Audio Video Installation Team. Installation of audio/visual equipment includes: LC flat panels, video projection systems, speakers & microphones, cabling, racking and mounting AV devices and control systems, troubleshooting, and commissioning new systems. (25%) - Completes annual and planned maintenance activities for installed and deliverable A/V technologies, responds and troubleshoots "trouble tickets" on new and existing systems. (15%) - Assists across the CEL Audio Video Installation Team, Medical Center Media, and Miner ITS during periods of peak demand including Computing, Events, Conferences, and Commencement, etc. (5%) - Participates in training and other professional development activities; keeps abreast of trends. SUPERVISION AND MANAGEMENT This position reports to: Associate Director, Audio Visual Installation Team This position supervises: Functional supervision may be exercised over less-experienced staff and student employees. Provides technical supervision and instruction, schedules and assigns tasks, monitors progress, reviews results, and evaluates the employee regarding the area of assignment. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in Electronics or equivalent experience in Audio-Visual Design required; a third class phone license or equivalent; and a course in medical terminology. Bachelor's degree preferred. 2 years of experience in audio/visual design and installation preferred. - Excellent working knowledge of audio/visual equipment including but not limited to the following: fluent in video recording, IP cameras, wired and wireless microphones, streaming and video-conferencing technologies, and general A/V support. - Experience in configuring, programming, and troubleshooting audio/visual control system(s); Extron is preferred. - 1-3 years of hands-on experience installing audio/visual equipment including flat panel displays, video walls, speakers, video conferencing systems, and control systems. - Knowledge of projection and display resolutions. - Ability to read blueprints and install equipment to specifications. - Microsoft Windows and Apple iOS familiarity preferred. Experience with IP addressing and other IT basics preferred. Professional certification: CTS Certification preferred. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: - Carry a cell phone. - May be subject to call-in or required to work evenings, early mornings, weekends, or holidays to meet deadlines or solve specific, critical problems. Working off-site may be required. - Use of hand and power tools. - Ability to climb and use a ladder. A complete Task Analysis for this position is on file in the department.
