The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

Provides liaison support at the professional level between academic projects within the College and Regional and or Nationally supported programs, providing project oversight including, counseling, referrals and information on the support services available to address the special needs of the program or project.Responsibilities General Purpose: The Center for Community Engagement fosters collaborative leadership between community partners, students, and other University stakeholders to discover transformative solutions and create equitable social change in the local community and beyond. We pursue our mission through a portfolio of programs and initiatives that span the enrollment cycle for undergraduate students in the College, and that range from curricular to co-curricular in focus. The Associate Director provides strategic leadership of the College's community-engaged learning initiative as well as other aspects of the programming and operations of the Center. The position designs and delivers courses required for the College's certificate of achievement in community-engaged learning, advises students pursuing the certificate, supports faculty members in the development of new courses, and fosters community partnership connections. The Associate Director also is responsible for the design and delivery of student engagement initiatives, including short-term co-curricular programs to inform students about and connect them to communities beyond campus, as well as non-partisan political engagement initiatives to effect systemic social change. The position implements assessment to measure the attainment of learning outcomes related to community engagement and to continuously improve programs and services. The Associate Director supervises two professional and various student staff members to ensure the delivery of high-quality programs and services, seeking to empower students to take leadership roles whenever possible. The associate director will report to the assistant dean and director of the Center and will coordinate closely with the director and other professional staff to ensure that the programs and partnerships contribute to the overall mission, goals, and learning outcomes of the Center, and will assist with office-wide initiatives when necessary The associate director will also advise and consult with the director in establishing the strategic direction for the Center and may represent the Center to other internal and external stakeholders in the absence of the director. The associate director will work closely with other colleagues in the College and with relevant departments across the University. Responsibilities: Curricular development for community┐engaged learning - Develop, implement, and evaluate strategies to foster the creation of community┐engaged learning opportunities, one of the strategic priorities in the College. - Support, advise, and serve as primary contact for faculty fellows in community┐engaged learning to catalyze outreach and development of community┐engaged learning across the disciplines. - Develop faculty capacity to undertake community┐engaged teaching and research- - - Cultivate relationships with faculty to support the development of courses that include community-engaged learning components in order to contextualize student learning with out┐of┐the┐classroom experiences. - - Serve as the primary point of contact for faculty members pursuing community┐engaged teaching and research. - - Manage outreach and promotion through both oral presentations and written communications to increase the numbers of faculty involved in community-engaged learning - - Promote and administer course development grants designed to foster the creation of new community┐engaged courses in the College with a goal of creating 2-4 new courses each academic year. Direct staff for the delivery and execution of grants. - - Manage the promotion and administration of faculty mini┐grants to support the delivery of community┐engaged courses. - - Curate professional development opportunities for faculty and staff pursuing community┐engaged learning, including regular meetings for faculty to share best practices, an annual retreat, and opportunities to attend and present at regional or national conferences. - - Develop and implement new strategies to increase faculty pursuit of community┐engaged research. - - - Develop systems and processes to connect faculty and students to relevant community partnerships - - - Coordinate with other staff in the Center to ensure strategic management of community partnership. - - Identify and meet with community partners, including neighborhood associations, City of Rochester and Monroe County staff, local elected officials, and non-profit leaders,as needed to introduce faculty, cultivate partnerships, and evaluate outcomes. - - Build systems and processes to facilitate development, matching, and management of community partnerships for community-engaged learning. - - Management, planning, evaluation of the certificate of achievement in community┐engaged learning - Design and deliver two credit-bearing seminars on community┐engaged learning required for the achievement of learning outcomes for the certificate. Manage professional and student staff to support effective delivery of the courses. - Advise students pursuing the certificate to ensure satisfactory progress and completion of its requirements, as well as quality of work. - Actively promote program and events through in-person outreach as well as designing written communications and other communications materials to increase numbers of students pursuing the certificate. - On behalf of the College deans, convene a steering committee comprised of faculty members, students, and community partners to provide policy input and administrative oversight of the certificate. Set agenda and facilitate meetings. With input from the committee, recommend to the deans changes to the program. Direct student engagement initiatives - Manage programs and initiatives to foster engagement of students in community engagement initiatives, including the University's tradition of Wilson Day of Engagement, including a large-scale, community-facing event during welcome week for new students, as well as ongoing short-term engagement opportunities that provide a portal for entry into longer and deeper community engagement opportunities. - Design and deliver programming to foster political engagement and voter education for students, including supervision of a student advisory Committee for Political Engagement, and maintain high-profile local and national partnerships relevant to this initiative, including the Monroe County Board of Elections, the University's participation in the National Study of Learning, Voting and Engagement., the University's partnership with DemocracyWorks to support the University's TurboVote portal, and the All-in Campus Democracy Challenge. - Design and implement assessment mechanisms for programs and overall student engagement efforts to measure both outputs and outcomes and ensure program quality and make recommendations for improvement. - Actively promote program and events through in-person outreach as well as designing written communications and other communications materials to increase numbers of students involved. - Plan and execute key programmatic events, including events with university senior leadership and community leaders. Direct staff to carry out program logistics and maintain interdepartmental relationships to ensure smooth and effective delivery of programs. Contribute to strategic direction and leadership - Supervise two full┐time staff members to ensure effective program delivery. - Supervise student employees to support seminar instruction and peer mentorship for community-engaged learning students as needed. - Serve as departmental liaison to manage strategic partnerships with selected College and University departments. - Serve as representative of the Center in cultivating strategic partnerships with selected organizations in the community. - Serve on committees as needed to advance the work of the Center, the College and the University. Other duties as assigned Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree required - Master's degree in higher education administration, student affairs, counseling, public administration or related field preferred. - 2-3 years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. - 5-7 years of transferable experience in community-based programming and/or post-secondary education teaching or administration, or equivalent combination of experience and training orefered. Required: - Ability to express ideas clearly (written and verbal) to represent the Center and the University with a high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills. - The ability to work collaboratively for the benefit of all parties involved. - The ability to adjust to changing priorities in a busy environment. - Proficiency with Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and familiarity with cloud-based communications and file-sharing platforms. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities. - Ability to work with diverse stakeholders - Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and competing priorities. - Ability to exercise independent judgment and follow established protocols and procedures. Preferred: - Ability to design and carry out strategic priorities. - Experience building community partnerships in Rochester or a community is preferred. - Functional knowledge of curriculum design, experiential learning, and other pedagogies and research methods. - Demonstrated ability to work with faculty members to support their pedagogical and research goals.
