Description

The Division of Neonatology is seeking a pediatric physician with a history of excellent training and success in the clinical and administrative realms. The new faculty member will deliver clinical care in the Newborn and Special Care Nursery. Successful candidates will display a commitment to the clinical care of newborns and their families and ensure quality and safety in the newborn nursery and Special Care Nursery/eligibility is a requirement and an interest in newborn medicine.

The University of Rochester, located in the Finger Lakes region of New York, is a major research university with a long history of clinical and laboratory investigation in Neonatology. The Division of Neonatology comprises 19 neonatologists, several pediatricians, and six tenure-track Ph.D. laboratory investigators. The Division provides neonatal care at the University’s 68-bed Level IV NICU and the Rochester General Hospital 14-bed Level II SCN and supervises newborn care at several regional hospitals. The University is the Regional Perinatal Center for the Finger Lakes Region of New York State, with a catchment area of 1.2 million. Additionally, the division provides Medical Direction, administrative oversight, and some clinical care for the Level 1 Nursery at Highland Hospital, a nearby affiliate of the University of Rochester located in Rochester. Highland Hospital performs approximately 3000 deliveries annually and has a Level 1 nursery. It also has a Special Care Nursery with 9 single patient rooms. The Newborn and Special Care Nurseries are staffed by a group of Advanced Practice Providers, with local oversight from a pediatric physician Medical Director and Departmental oversight from a Neonatologist. The Family Maternity Center at Highland Hospital contributes to the academic mission of the University. It provides medical education for OB and Family Medicine residents and medical students rotating through OB.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will have shown outstanding promise and commitment to caring for patients and children. Requirements include an MD or Equivalent, NYS license or license eligible, DEA license, and Board Certification or Eligibility to become Board Certified in Pediatrics.
