Responsibilities

The Transitional Research, Innovation, and Test Development Office (TRITDO), has an opening for a Developer. TRITDO is responsible for developing diagnostic tests. If you enjoy innovation, learning new technologies, tinkering, experimenting, and working in a project focused environment, TRITDO might be for you!

In the Developer role you will be an innovator who develops, evaluates, and implements novel/new tests, methodologies, technologies, or products for the laboratory under the intellectual and scientific guidance of laboratory directors and [DT3]. Responsibilities include:

  • Improving existing methods or implementation of novel technology of proven validity within the work unit

  • Organizing new method validation data

  • Preparing data for publication and peer review

  • Participating in formal presentations

  • Actively partnering with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting others with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives

*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to apply to other positions within Mayo Clinic.

**This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification; Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position you must meet one of the qualifications below.

  • Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, biological science and two years relevant laboratory experience

  • Bachelor's degree, a certificate in MLS, and two years relevant laboratory experience

*A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree. Other clinical laboratory specialty certificates will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis.

Additional Qualifications

  • Preference for exceptional critical thinking skills along with the following valuable, but not required skills:

  • Tissue Culture

  • Protein purification

  • Flow Cytometry

  • Software

  • Western Blot

  • ELISA

  • Molecular

  • Preferred: Master's degree in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology or Doctoral degree (PhD) in chemistry or a biological science

  • Self-motivated, highly organized, efficient, and able to work independently exercising strong decision-making skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.

  • Capable of reproducing a reference method using available procedures without supervision.

  • Demonstrated analytical and scientific competency with development and/or validation of lab techniques or procedures.

  • Experience with data collection, organization, analysis and delivery of information.

  • American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty and prevailing regulatory requirements.

  • MUST have a DETAILED equivalency evaluation.

  • MUST show US equivalent degree.

  • Evaluation MUST be completed from an organization listed as a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) www.naces.org OR the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE) www.aice-eval.org

$68,400 - $102,700 per year; Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.

Schedule Details

Monday - Friday, dayshift. The hybrid work model requires you to work within reasonable driving distance to Rochester, MN. After training is complete, you will have the flexibility to work from home up to 30%.

Weekend Schedule

No regularly scheduled weekends, but potential depending on project and instrument availability.
