Job Information
Actalent Clinical Laboratory Technician in Rochester, Minnesota
Job Title: Clinical Laboratory Technician
Job Description
The Neuroimmunology Laboratory performs a unique clinical autoimmune serology service by bridging autoimmune neurology practice and cutting-edge research. The tests performed on serum and spinal fluid aid in the diagnosis of autoimmune disorders of the brain, nerve, and muscle, often reflecting immune responses initiated by an unsuspected cancer. These disorders are frequently mistaken for multiple sclerosis, stroke, and untreatable degenerative disorders at the onset. Serum autoantibodies specific for neurons, glial cells, and muscle are detected using tissue and transfected cell-based fluorescence microscopy, radioimmunoassay, flow cytometry, western blot, ELISA, and chemiluminescence assays. With multiple testing methodologies performed in the lab, there is an equal opportunity for automated and manual testing. The lab is experiencing rapid growth, having performed about 2.2 million tests in 2022, and is currently working on implementing an automation line to enhance the efficiency of the testing process.
