Cogent is seeking an enthusiastic and dependable individual to join our team in Riverside Missouri as aService Technician-Assembler. As a Service Technician/Assembleryou will be responsible for the assembly of new rotating equipment such as pumps, motors, blowers and gearboxes on bases. These units will be used in many markets such as Industrial, Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Water and Wastewater.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Follow assembly instructions, processes, and procedures

  • Rotate through all the tasks required in a particular assembly process to assemble individual components and sub-assemblies to build the final equipment

  • Operate, test, and crate machinery for shipment to customers

  • Document machine assembly and testing data

  • Report problems with quality, process, equipment, and material to the Service Manager

  • Collaborate with Engineers, Technicians, and Order Coordinators to maintain effective working relationships across the organization and resolve problems

  • Correctly complete all relevant paperwork

  • Assist in wiring assemblies

  • Finish all assignments in a safe and timely manner

Other General Responsibilities

  • Operate a fork truck, overhead cranes, power tools, and hand tools

  • Provide hands-on job functions training to coworkers as needed

  • Maintain a safe and immaculate work area

  • Use equipment and materials properly and report potentially unsafe conditions to management

  • Observe all safety and security procedures

  • Other duties may be assigned

Position Requirements

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Organized with great attention to detail

  • Ability to read a scope of work to build a quality product

  • One-year certificate from college or technical school; or six months related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Mechanical aptitude to assemble, test, and troubleshoot equipment.

  • 2 years of assembly experience (preferred)

  • Learns quickly when facing new problems: a relentless desire to learn, open to change, strives for continuous improvement of self and processes

  • Solid communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey information and ideas

  • Thrives in a fast-paced work environment; responds with a sense of urgency

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Works well independently or with a team

  • Customer-first attitude
