About being our Project Manager or Senior Project Manager in Traffic Engineering

As a PM or Senior PM in Traffic Engineering, you will oversee and deliver multiple traffic engineering projects for a variety of clients, including public, private, and institutional sectors. Your responsibilities will encompass various aspects of traffic engineering design, such as traffic signals, signing and striping, worksite traffic control and stage construction, traffic impact studies, traffic operational analysis, safety studies, parking studies, signal timing and coordination, and other planning and operational projects. Your work will often involve coordination with other roadway, transportation, or site infrastructure projects, requiring strong communication and collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities for our Project Manager or Senior Project Manager in Traffic Engineering

You will manage multiple projects, ensuring technical quality and coordination across a broad range of assignments. You will collaborate with supervisors to provide necessary design, coordination, and follow-up to meet agency requirements and quality standards. Preparing traffic engineering construction documents, technical reports, calculations, cost/quantity estimates, and specifications to ensure clear and coordinated interpretation of design for construction will be part of your role. Leading site visits, client meetings, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes, and agency coordination to obtain permitting approvals, while staying familiar with local regulatory requirements, will also be essential. Additionally, you will develop and manage project schedules, budgets, scopes of services, and additional services, while monitoring budgets and recommending corrective actions.

Supervising, mentoring, and training the technical engineering team will be a key part of your responsibilities. You will assign projects to engineers with completion timelines, provide technical assistance, and review the work of assigned employees. Setting goals and evaluating staff performance will also be important. Furthermore, you will support or lead business development and marketing efforts, including planning, contract negotiations, presentations, proposals, RFPs and RFQs, recruiting, and interviews.

Minimum Qualifications to be our Project Manager or Senior Project Manager in Traffic Engineering

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline and hold a Professional Civil Engineer (PE) and/or Traffic Engineer (TE) license/registration in the State of California. A minimum of 2 years of management experience in engineering and design, focusing on traffic engineering, is required. You should possess expert technical knowledge of traffic and transportation engineering concepts, practices, and procedures, with proven experience in preparing technical reports, designs, specifications, and computations. Familiarity with local design procedures, regulatory compliance, and agency coordination, as well as a thorough understanding of schedule, budget, and scope of services management, is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications for our Project Manager or Senior Project Manager in Traffic Engineering

Experience with software tools such as Synchro/SimTraffic, Agi32, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or VISSIM.

  • A competitive salary! The expected range for this position is $130,000 - $185,000/salary depending on experienceCompensation may be adjusted for well qualified candidates
