Be registered full-time for the respective semester (nine semester credit hours during the fall semester, nine semester credit hours during the spring semester, six semester credit hours during the summer session or be performing supervised research with a UTRGV faculty member) or be registered in the required number of semester credit hours to fulfill the only remaining requirements on the degree plan

Graduate Assistants will be assigned to specific faculty and their responsibilities will vary with the needs of the faculty
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
Graduate Teaching Assistantships are available to students who are assigned to a specific faculty member. Duties will vary depending on the project and assigned duties, but will be related to the student’s field of study. Graduate Teaching Assistants may also work as lab assistants, graders, creative activity facilitators, and/or in other positions that help faculty members with their instructional duties in the department. Graduate Teaching Assistants may be assigned to any Division of the professional staff at the University. Duties will be related to the student’s field of study and will vary depending on the projects and responsibilities assigned to the student. Graduate students will work a varied schedule of 20 hours per week.
Preferred Qualifications
The Graduate Assistant position is available to full-time graduate students, preferably those in good academic standing and in the Physics & Astronomy department.
