Minimum Qualifications
As Instructors of Record, Graduate Assistant Instructors will function as auxiliary teaching staff and are employed to teach courses scheduled at the undergraduate level. (For additional requirements associated with teaching assignments see the UTRGV Faculty Teaching Qualifications Policy.) The maximum number of teaching hours for a semester is six (6) and the maximum amount of time allowed for assigned duties is twenty (20) hours per week. Discipline-specific required and preferred qualifications are determined by the hiring department.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be admitted & enrolled to UTRGV graduate degree program in Exercise Science
Be in good academic standing with a 4.0 GPA .
Must hold a bachelor’s degree in exercise science with a minimum of 18 hours in an MS program.
Must be registered full-time for the respective semester (9) semester credit hours during the fall semester, nine (9) semester credit hours during the spring semester, three (3) semester credit hours during the summer session or be registered in the required number of semester credit hours to fulfill the only remaining requirements of the degree plan.

We seek applicants who are dedicated to servingThe University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’sstudent body as aGraduate Assistant InstructorofHealth and Human Performancebeginning in the 2024-2025 academic year. Faculty will be required to teach in a classroom or laboratory as assigned and appropriate. Will be expected to integrate next-generation technology and customized student learning to maximize student success. Given that UTRGV is a distributed campus, may be required to teach online or hybrid courses or teach at different locations.
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in exercise with the experience and qualifications that meet SACSCOC and other departmental/college accreditation requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Undergraduate and graduate research experience in exercise science.
