The SR AD, Capability Senor Principal (1) directs, leads, and manages a BDS chapter, (2) is responsible for the development, refinement, and effective and efficient deployment of strategically highly relevant functional capabilities including people, knowledge, and skills, thereby co-shaping the ability of the organization of successful cross-functional development and delivery of products in clinical development.As an employee of Boehringer Ingelheim, you will actively contribute to the discovery, development and delivery of our products to our patients and customers. Duties & Responsibilities
Leads a chapter of up to 15 functional professionals of mainly high seniority (up to the Senior Principal Level) and having high strategic impact through their complex responsibilities in daily business. This includes, on a continuous basis, investing in the members of the chapter through:
Developing knowledge and skills of the members of the chapter.
Development, supporting and encouraging a learning culture
Promoting BI/BDS principles.
Transforming BDS’ working environment into an Agile and Digital state-of- the-art workplace.
Being a member of the functional leadership team, assists and represents the BDS Global Functional Head in the strategic and operational leadership of the function. This includes ensuring functional quality and compliance of deliverables, the definition and development of functional standards, and effective and efficient deployment of functional resources.
Together with Agile Coaches and other Capability Managers, lead removing organizational impediments of fundamental and conceptual importance.
Acts as a Product Owner for complex and initially poorly defined and strategically highly relevant functional and/or cross-functional topics and initiatives regarding BI's ability to develop valuable products, thereby co-shaping the strategy of BDS and contributing to the strategy of other functions and units with regards to these aspects.
In close collaboration with BDS leadership teams, contributes to a mature BDS resource and strategic workforce planning and deployment. This includes the assessment of capability needs and the deployment of the members of the chapter through assignment of appropriate roles.
Requirements
MSc from an accredited institution in a clinical development related field or comparable qualification.
At least eight (8) years of experience in clinical development in the pharmaceutical industry in an international context, at least five (5) years of it in a leading role.
In-depth functional knowledge and in-depth knowledge of the type of contribution BDS and other functions at BI provide to clinical development, and experience with collaborating with external partners.
Demonstrates Strength regarding:
Understanding of the contribution of the BDS function in the larger context of clinical development
Understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and development of drugs.
Business acumen and industry trends in clinical development.
Project-management, communication, presentation, networking, and negotiation skills, and mindfulness of local, global, internal, and external cultures to ensure that messages are received positively and effectively.

Know, understand, and implement
International regulations and guidelines for good clinical practice from all ICH regions.
The various international guidelines on clinical development, including the respective functional and other data-scientific approaches.
BI processes and SOPs that govern clinical development.
Compensation
This position offers a base salary typically between $170,000 and $269,000. The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements.
