This role is based on-site at our Ridgefield, CT location with hybrid flexibility of 2-3 days per week on-site.

The Senior Associate Director, Patient Excellence (PX) Digital Innovation Strategy & Solutions will be accountable for leading the strategic design, development and implementation of the digital strategy including a CRM platform for the US Patient & Provider Support Program and for the Patient Excellence organization. The incumbent will be accountable for the strategic road map, capability build and implementation of solutions across 4 therapeutic areas with multiple simultaneous launches.

This role will:

  • Lead development & strategy of GenAI solutions for the patient excellence organization.

  • Be accountable for building a best-in-industry patient-centric approach to digital initiatives, ensuring that solutions are designed with the needs, preferences, and behaviors of patients in mind.

  • Lead digital innovation across Patient Excellence functions, identify and analyze digital trends and opportunities within the industry to scout new technologies and anticipate future patient needs and expectations.

  • Ensure effective delivery of high-impact 'must-win' transformative programs for the Patient Excellence organization.

This role would also require working collaboratively with patient excellence sub-functions and other internal teams such as IT, Omni-channel Excellence, Marketing, HP Ops, etc. to lead the identification and development of digital strategy, assess requirements, provide oversight on execution, and serve as a 'business product owner' for the in-house digital solutions across all therapeutic areas and assets.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads strategic design and provide oversight for execution of digital projects used by patients and care-coordinators such as patient platform, patient CRM system, etc., assuring alignment of operational data platforms, processes, and services to provide comprehensive patient support to enhance patient experience.

  • Develops business case and gain endorsement from US and global executives for digital investments.

  • Leads change management of cross functional governance process of new capabilities.

  • Oversees the development of implementation plans, and partner with Patient Experience and Advocacy teams to measure the impact of digital initiatives on patient outcomes and business objectives.

  • Leads RFP creation and selection process. Collaborate with asset teams to understand unique needs and attributes for building digital solutions.

  • Leads ideation, exploration, and testing of groundbreaking digital capabilities and solutions that transform Boehringer's ways of engaging with patients.

  • Sets performance metrics, monitor, and adjust strategy and execution based key performance indicators to measure the success and impact of digital innovation initiatives.

  • Provides oversight for the identification and evaluation of innovative digital solutions in collaboration with other functions.

  • Assesses and manages risks associated with digital initiatives, implementing strategies to mitigate potential challenges.

  • Stays ahead of & educates the organization on emerging Digital Health trends, opportunities, competitive threats, and new technologies that can continue to differentiate Boehringer.

  • Assesses the financial implications and business case for Digital Health investments and helps communicate overarching return on investment, business value drivers, success metrics.

  • As a leader of people, coaches and provides guidance to their direct reports. This includes development plans, identifying growth opportunities, and managing performance.

  • Develops and manages Digital Innovation Strategy and Solutions budgets and monitor expenditures, revising spending as needed.

  • Oversees budget accountability of direct reports.

Work with highly matrixed cross functional partners across the organization in the US and globally to oversee development and implementation of digital solutions and ensure seamless integration across functions, by collaborating with:

  • Px Domain teams to develop understanding of customer pain points and requirements of the end-user.

  • Patient Experience and Advocacy team to understand outcomes of research with insights informing patient needs and preferences, thus Integrating insights into the development and design of digital solutions.

  • Omni channel excellence to collaborate on development of unified digital solutions and ensure seamless integration with other channels.

  • IT team to act as ‘Business Product Owner’ for in-house products.

  • Asset teams to align digital solutions with brand messaging and positioning to create a cohesive experience.

  • Field teams to develop patient centric solutions/platforms such as CRM platform and enable integration of data cross-functionally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, or related field preferred; Advance degree or MBA preferred.

  • Ten-plus (10+) years of experience in digital strategy, patient engagement, healthcare marketing; Previous experience or background in digital startup.

  • Proven track record of successfully leading digital patient engagement programs or initiatives, preferably within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.

  • Excellent understanding and direct relevant experience with digital technology, especially used within pharmaceutical industry.

  • Experience with digital tools, platforms, and technologies relevant to pharmaceutical industry.

  • Experience working with business related technologies (CRM).

  • Have visionary thinking; ability to think innovatively and anticipate future trends in digital technology.

  • Strong leadership and management skills for leading collaborations and overseeing development of digital solutions across multiple internal teams.

  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills to interface with senior leadership skills collaborate with cross-functional teams and build relationships with patients and stakeholders.

  • Excellent ability to leverage data to drive decision-making and measure the impact of digital patient engagement initiatives.

Eligibility Requirements :

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Compensation Data

This position offers a base salary typically between $163,000 and $200,000.  The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements.
