Job Summary
Specially, from a system metering perspective, this role supervises the construction, operation, inspection and maintenance of generation, substation, and distribution high-end revenue metering equipment for company owned Power Generation Stations, Independent Power Producers (IPP), Non-Utility Generation (NUG), Distributed Energy Resources (DER), and Electric Transmission tie-line Interconnects with other utilities located within and outside of the Dominion Energy service territory.
• Provide 24/7 technical support of operational/revenue metering data issues and data exchange related to installation or maintenance of metering generation, substation, and distribution facilities.
• Coordinates with generation, substation, and distribution operations to schedule outages for equipment maintenance.
• Responsible for commissioning, maintenance and compliance activities of NERC CIP cyber assets located withing Medium and Low Impact generation and substations facilities.
• Provides technical support and design recommendations for metering equipment to Metering Engineering and Planning, Power Generation Engineering, and Substation Engineering departments.
This role supervises the construction, operation, inspection and maintenance of substations and related equipment.
• Provides direct supervision of substation technical workforce comprised of the System Protection Technician series or Electrical Equipment Technician series. Supervises construction of substations including planning, scheduling, energizing procedures and overseeing work.
• Ensures proper safety and work procedures are followed.
• Supervises inspection, maintenance and repairs of equipment and facilities, including energized equipment.
• Ensures equipment, parts and supplies are available.
• Provides technical advice to management and operations on system protection and electrical equipment issues, testing results and relay operations, to aid in service restoration or energization of major facilities / equipment. Provides verification of system protection for electrical components and comparison to grid flow during commissioning and maintenance.
• Responsible for the installation, commissioning and maintenance of data communications equipment.
• Schedule outages for equipment maintenance.
• Prepares employee performance reviews and conduct employee training.
• Maintains consistent administration of company policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and education required for entry into this job include the following:
• 5+ years of relevant experience plus preferred degree or its equivalence in education.
• Completion of Technical Development Program desirable.
• Full knowledge of substation construction operation, maintenance and repairs.
• Full knowledge of electrical and mechanical theory.
• Skills: verbal and written communication, planning and scheduling, organizational, problem solving, decision making, supervisory, operate equipment and tools.
• Abilities: processing information quickly, flexibility, analytical thinking, walking, climbing, bending and prolonged standing.
Education Requirements
Education Level: Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:
