Senior Archaeologist

Location: Remote – Eastern US preferred

ICF is currently seeking a Senior Archaeologist to provide cultural resource management expertise in a dynamic, fast-paced environment on some of the region’s most influential and complex environmental compliance projects. Our nationwide cultural resources practice includes experts in architectural history, history, archaeology, GIS, data management, environmental regulations, and planning.

The Senior Archaeologist will provide cultural resource management services as a client-facing technical lead, with capabilities that include project management and senior-level technical expertise. The Senior Archaeologist will also assist on or lead the preparation of proposals, communication with clients, and tracking project budgets and schedules. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in regulatory compliance for renewable energy projects and archaeology of the Mid-Atlantic Region, and a capacity for managing projects and cultivating client relationships.

What you will be doing:

  • Provide senior-level technical leadership in archaeology and regulatory compliance

  • Manage projects related to environmental compliance and cultural resource management, including client contact, task order management, budget control, invoicing, schedule, personnel allocation/planning, and subcontractor involvement

  • Evaluate resources for National Register of Historic Places, develop resource management recommendations, assess project effects on resources, and provide high level support to clients to address complex management challenges that require advanced technical or regulatory knowledge

  • Collaborate in integrated teams of cultural resources specialists to solve problems alongside natural resources scientists, planners, regulators, engineers, and other stakeholders

  • Integrate with clients to achieve long-term objectives and efficiencies, from programmatic strategies and feasibility studies through implementation, operations, and maintenance

What You Will Need to Have (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Master’s degree in Anthropology or related field.

  • 8+ years of professional experience in cultural resources management

  • Meets Secretary of the Interior’s Qualification Standards for Archaeology

What We’d Like You to Have (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Advanced knowledge of NEPA and Section 106 regulatory requirements

  • A background working with private and public sector clients and regulatory agencies; experience supporting clients’ Section 106 compliance for renewable energy projects a plus

  • Knowledgeable in the archaeology of the Mid-Atlantic region; knowledge of other regions of the United States is a plus

  • Demonstrated ability to serve as cultural resource lead on complex environmental compliance projects

  • Experience consulting with Tribal Nations on environmental compliance projects

  • Registered Professional Archaeologist certification

  • Specializations such as history, GIS, geoarchaeology, ethnography, or maritime archaeology a plus

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$79,154.00 - $134,561.00
