Job Title: Machine Operator - Polisher
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Machine Operator - Polisher to join our team on a long-term basis. This position operates on the 1st shift, Monday to Friday, from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. The role involves operating various machinery, including lathes and high-cycle grinders, to polish assembly parts for pumps, valves, and other equipment. The position offers opportunities for cross-training in assembly and pay increases with skill advancement.
Responsibilities
Operate lathe, high cycle grinders and other polishing tools to achieve the final surface finish on assembly parts.
Initially handle OD (outside diameter) polishing and eventually learn ID (inside diameter) polishing.
Change out belts, bobs, and unitized wheels to achieve the desired finish.
Utilize standard pieces as a comparison to ensure correct finishes in the absence of SOPs, improving quality through repetition.
Pick parts needed for assembly, place them on carts along with Manufacturing Orders (MOs), and transport them to the polishing area.
Determine the correct finish for each part based on the MO and ensure the quality of the polished parts.
Adhere to PPE requirements including gloves, N95 masks, PAPR made by 3M, hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots.
Essential Skills
High school diploma or GED.
Proficiency in polishing, lathe machine operation, grinding, metal finishing, sanding, and buffing.
Mechanical aptitude and the ability to read tape measures.
Experience in machine operating, assembly, or warehouse environments.
Ability to lift 50 lbs+ (40 lbs+ independently).
Capability to walk, sit, and reach for extended periods.
Competence in using hand tools and power tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Preferred forklift operating experience (forklift certification provided after one month of employment).
Attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality standards.

This position operates on the 1st shift, Monday to Friday, from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with potential shifts extending to 4:30 PM. The work environment is a clean, organized, and large manufacturing floor with clearly labeled sections based on materials and production.
