Robert Half Payroll Manager in Richmond, Virginia

Description We are offering a new role based in Richmond, Virginia, United States, in the industry of payroll supervision and management. This role involves managing the bi-weekly payroll process, handling a variety of payroll and HR information, and serving as an expert on payroll nuances. Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing various reports, performing payroll close processes, and maintaining knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.

Responsibilities

• Manage the bi-weekly payroll process, ensuring compliance with policies and laws

• Handle a variety of payroll and HR information, ensuring documentation and compliance with established policies and regulatory guidelines

• Serve as an expert on payroll nuances, including but not limited to, tax matters and payroll processing

• Prepare bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports

• Perform quarterly and annual payroll close processes with payroll vendor to ensure accurate reporting and filings

• Review 941 on a quarterly basis to ensure accurate filings

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour laws

• Monitor assignments to ensure accurate payment

• Assist employing locations in recording their payroll transactions in the general ledger

• Perform periodic audits of payroll data to ensure accurate classification of employees and benefit eligibility

• Communicate important updates and notices related to payroll to all employing locations.

Skills

• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Experience with HRIS Payroll System

• Knowledge of Multi-state Payroll

• Familiarity with UKG Pro Requirements • Proficient in Accounting Software Systems

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

• Experience with HRIS Payroll System

• Knowledge of Multi-state Payroll processing

• Familiarity with UKG Pro software

• Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role in payroll

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion

• Highly organized with strong attention to detail

• Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines

• Proven leadership skills and ability to foster team collaboration

• Knowledge of payroll tax laws and regulations

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred

• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus

• Experience in implementing payroll systems is advantageous

• Familiarity with payroll best practices and industry standards.
