We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Military service members and veterans with a rank of E-5 or higher plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.

Job Summary

Manage a team of analysts responsible for energy market quantitative analysis and electric load, sales and revenue forecasting.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develops and maintains econometric models which provide essential business information such as forecasts of peak demand, residential end-use sales, resale classifications, and military service rate classifications.

  • Supports the maintenance, enhancements, and development of systems to analyze and disseminate forecasting information to other business units, as required, and in support of the integrated resource planning process.

  • Develops data sources for use in the econometric models.

  • Monitors local, state, and national economic trends and their impact on Dominion electric sales and revenue.

  • Preparing testimony for regulatory cases including developing responses to interrogatories and expert testimony for regulatory requests relating to econometric models.

  • Leads effort in the data mining activities associated with the complete examination and segmentation of historical sales data resulting in a more micro assessment of sales trends within different regions of DEV's service territory.

  • Develops new processes that will programmatically combine sales information with other data (i.e. demographic, economic, etc.) in order to better explain where, when, and why customer electric usage trends change over time.

  • Works with other BU's on budgets (as those budgets are related to revenue from electric sales) and other electric sales guidance activities.

  • Leverages advanced metering data including big data platforms to advance company’s forecasting and explain existing and developing trends and variances.

  • Works closely with other analysts and leaders within the company to assure departmental consistency in forecasting, analytics, and reporting. Utilize findings resulting from this effort to provide guidance to Executive Management and to improve sales forecasting processes.

  • Works closely with other fundamental analysts within Business Planning and Market Analysis to assure departmental consistency in forward views and conclusions.

  • Works with other BU's on budgets (as those budgets are related to revenue from electricity sales) and other electricity sales guidance activities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • 8-10+ years of related experience.

  • Strong leadership and team skills.

  • Strong presentation skills.

  • Ability to translate complex analytics into clear answers and solutions.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to process and analyze large volumes of data efficiently.

  • Programming and database skills are mandatory.

  • Thorough understanding of regression and econometric modeling as used in electric sales, energy, and peak demand forecasting.

  • Strong knowledge of energy market operating fundamentals with a strong emphasis in electric power.

  • Knowledge of regional ISO operating rules with an emphasis on the PJM-ISO and ISO-NE.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Master

Demonstrated related experience may be substituted for preferred education.

Preferred Disciplines: Business, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
