Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a Human Resources Specialist (Military) (Title 32) (Indefinite), Position Description Number D2965000 and is part of the VA HR, National Guard. Responsibilities As a Human Resources Specialist (Military), GS-0201-07/09, you will perform the below duties: Performs developmental assignments. Performs developmental assignments of moderate difficulty where work procedures are established, and several specific guidelines exist. Work assignments consist of a series of specific and related tasks that have been selected to orient the employee in the practical application of basic occupational principles, concepts, and techniques. Assignments are combined with training to further develop analytical skills and techniques in the occupation. Assistance in solving problems is available from the supervisor or a higher-graded specialist. Performs recurring assignments. Independently performs recurring assignments of limited, but gradually increasing, difficulty and complexity. The employee is responsible for locating and selecting the most appropriate guidelines and procedures for application and making minor deviations to adapt the guidelines to specific cases. Analyzes routine problems encountered and resolves them. Refers deviations, problems, and unfamiliar situations to the supervisor for assistance. Participates in special initiatives, studies, and projects. Works with other specialists in planning and conducting special initiatives, studies, and projects. Assists in preparing reports and briefings outlining study findings and recommendations. Prepares written correspondence and other documentation. Drafts or prepares a variety of documents to include newsletter items, responses to routine inquiries, reports, letters, and other related documents. Uses automated system to effectively process personnel actions in accordance with the Guide to Processing Personnel Actions and local personnel systems checklists as required. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications NOTE: Qualifications are based on breadth/level of experience. WHO CAN APPLY: GROUP I - All qualified Male/Female Enlisted Member (E4/SPC - E7/SFC) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program. GROUP II - All qualified Virginia Army National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Member (E4/SPC - E7/SFC), regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period. Military Grades: Enlisted Member (E4/SPC - E7/SPC) GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have experience, education, or training serving as a Human Resources Specialist. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have at least 12 months specialized experience, education, or training, equivalent to at least the GS-06 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as: Experiences performing developmental assignments. Experience performing recurring assignments. Experience participating in special initiatives, studies, and projects. Experience preparing written correspondence and other documentation.
