We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E5-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.

Job Summary

Specific subject areas this position will cover include Solid Waste, RCRA, TSCA, CERCLA, PFAS, CCR/Coal Ash, UST/AST and other waste and chemical related issues as needed.

Provides regulatory advice, guidance, and interpretation to company personnel which ensures or improves compliance with all solid and hazardous waste, and toxic substance regulations at company facilities. Reads, analyzes, and interprets new and existing regulations pertaining to waste and chemical issues that could affect the company. Participates in developing and assessing new state or federal regulations or state legislation from proposal to promulgation. Provides expert, technical support to the environmental regulatory review process and environmental program compliance. Prepares and submits correspondence, comment letters, and testimonies to environmental regulatory agencies.

Analyzes environmental regulatory requirements for potential impact and imposed regulatory limitations and assists in the development of a management plan for compliance. Prepares position papers and technical reviews on the scientific and regulatory aspects of waste or chemical related impact analyses. Duties may include representing the company before regulatory agencies, industry groups, and the public on environmental issues. Assists in the development of environmental compliance training. Advises on operations, construction, procedures, records, and training, to ensure compliance with environment requirements prescribed in laws, regulations, company policies, and company procedures.

Note : The duties of this position do not include obtaining permits, submitting data reports or in-field environmental compliance.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

At least 10 years relevant experience. Note: A Master's degree will count as one year of experience. A partial year of experience of six months or more will be rounded up to one year of experience.

  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to work independently and implement time management skills.

  • Ability to give full attention to others, to take time understanding the points being made, and to ask questions.

  • Ability to interpret and/or apply environmental requirements to company operations.

  • Ability to translate regulatory regulations, permits, and plan requirements into understandable compliance guidance.

  • Ability to influence others and embrace collaborative problem solving.

  • Ability to communicate appropriately for audience needs.

  • Ability to share information and to facilitate open idea exchange.

  • Ability to understand implications of new information and adapt actions if needed.

  • Ability to identify complex problems, to review related information, to develop and evaluate options, and to implement solutions.

  • Ability to remain professional while delivering high-quality, reliable, environmental services to customers.

Note : Travel up to 10%.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Preferred Discipline(s): Environmental or Natural Sciences, Chemical or Environmental Engineering
