Job Summary and Qualifications

1. Analyzes productivity of the department searching to provide a high quality product while seeking opportunities to proactively advance the department’s mission and vision.

2. Develops, recommends and implements policies and procedures for the department in conformance with regulatory standards.

3. Ensures adherence to proper sterilization procedures and aseptic technique.

4. Conducts routine quality assurance activities.

5. Supervises and schedules personnel and provides training and development opportunities for personnel.

6. Assists in the development of departmental operating and capital budgets, expends funds as authorized and monitors and controls expenses.

7. Serves on hospital committees related to Sterile Processing.

8. Responsible for the preparation of monthly reports related to the activities of the department.

9. Receives, cleans, processes, assembles and distribute medical supplies, equipment and surgical instruments

10. Prepares, assembles and packages all medical equipment and instruments for surgery and other hospital departments

11. Sterilizes all reusable equipment, supplies and instrumentation

12. Maintains and operates Central Sterile equipment

13. Handles, transports and stores sterile equipment, instruments and supplies

14. Demonstrates department specific skills and competencies, including high-risk, low-volume and problem-prone competencies

What qualifications you will need:

• Successful completion of Central Sterile Supply Certification Program Required

• Minimum one to two years’ experience as a Central Sterile Technician; demonstrated leadership experience Preferred

• Central Sterile Supply Certification Required

-Examples: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (IAHCSMM); Certified and Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
