JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for day-to-day management of the transportation services to include but not limited to implementing and monitoring operations policies, procedures and practices, supervising operations staff and contractors. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Reports to Operations Manager; Oversee day-to-day operations, monitoring of performance standards, target performance metrics and overall service quality to meet departmental goals; Monitor daily routes that fall behind and research the cause of delay and any on-time performance issues; Provides service change information to contractor and staff as needed; interruptions; Acts as liaison between department and service contractors. Contribute to a positive safety culture that supports safety communications and adoption to ensure the department meets its safety performance targets provided by the Transit Asset Safety and Security Manager and Operations Manager with review of video as it relates to incidents and accidents. Ensures that all customer inquiries and concerns are responded to verbally and/or in writing; Handles escalated customer complaints when needed; Handles the most sensitive or volatile calls received by staff; Ensures all complaints concerning transit services are appropriately investigated, documented and addressed in a timely manner; Spot-checks reservationists calls to ensure staff is providing excellent customer service and answer phones according to Standard Operating Procedures. Assigns tasks, provides training, guidance and direction as needed to ensure workflow efficiency; Identifies, recommends and coordinates enrollment in training courses, seminars and other in-service programs to assist operations staff in improving work performance; Approve time off requests, reviews and approves timesheets and employee performance appraisals as required; Investigates, prepares and conducts counseling and disciplinary actions as required; Recommends new hires/transfer/promotions and salary increases. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.

REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma/GED. 4 years job related experience. Proven proficiency with both verbal and written communication skills. Strong math and/or accounting skills. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask is a must. Strong management and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees and elected officials.

English/Spanish speaking preferred but not required.

SALARY RANGE: $27.69 - $34.61 hourly, based on qualifications.
