Location: Richland, WA Title: Software Engineer III Schedule (FT/PT): FT Travel Required: As Needed Clearance: Current DOE "Q" security clearance or have the ability to obtain a clearance within 24 months. North Wind Solutions is a Government contracting small business with operations at military and civilian installations across the United States. The company's focus is facilities operation and maintenance, waste management and radiological services, security control and force protection, and environmental services. POSITION PURPOSE: The Software Engineer III is part of a strong team providing software engineering support to design, develop, operate, and maintain software programs. Software engineering support also includes the assessment, maintenance, documentation, modernization, testing, and implementation functions. The Software Engineer III provides development and support for a variety of customized applications, as well as Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) products. This involves .NET and other programming languages with back-end databases developed in SQL Server. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include the assessment, maintenance, documentation, modernization, testing, and implementation for both custom applications and Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) products. This may include the operation and maintenance support for legacy systems and website applications. Troubleshoot software production issues. Perform Full Stack development. Design MS-SQL databases. Develop using .NET technology. Understand and follow established Software Development Process. Assist with providing estimates. Assist with gathering requirements from customers. Develop technical documentation. Communicate effectively with good written and verbal communication skills. Participate in agile team environment. The Software Engineer will work with other project software engineers, interface with project managers, and meet with customer subject matter experts as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Minimum of 5 years of related experience in computer application development. Experience in a multi-platform environment in application and database development with significant involvement in developing projects using .NET technology and SQL design. Skills and Abilities Must be highly self-motivated and self-directed. Must have the vision and mindset to identify, handle, and resolve problems quickly before they become recurring issues. Ability to communicate effectively and work well in project teams while continuously learning from peers. Ability to provide clear, concise, and effective verbal and written communications regularly to ensure that project stakeholders are informed of project status. Special Requirements: Ability to occasionally work on site. Current DOE "Q" security clearance or have the ability to obtain a clearance within 24 months. (Clearance application process will be initiated by the employer.) Must pass pre-employment background check. Must pass pre-employment drug screening. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience in the support of Enterprise COTS applications. Experience in Microsoft Windows Server and Services. Experience with .NET 6+. Experience with MVVM. Experience with Entity Framework. Experience with Microsoft Service Fabric. Experience with Instrumentation and ICS networks. Minimum of 1 year of experience with DevSecOps and the Agile Framework.
