Job Description Summary Primary responsibilities are to install, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot all aspects of the control systems throughout the facility. This includes but is not limited to both the hardware and software aspects of PLC systems, HMI/SCADA systems, and process control equipment. Acts as the Primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Process Controls. Strong communication skills are required for working across all departments of the facility to provide knowledge and support regarding control systems functionality. Collaboration is a key requirement for implementing new control solutions as needed to improve and optimize facility operations. Supports the Production operations and advanced process control efforts in planning, implementing and developing long term success of advanced control organizational strategies. This position may require you to work any shift and/or all days of the week and on occasion be available to support plant needs during off hours via phone call in accordance with operational and plant needs. Job Description Job Responsibilities: * Identify process optimization opportunities in all areas of Richland campus and facilitate their successful implementation from the standpoint of reduced product variation and costs. * Deals with application and software issues related to process control and supports end users in application development. * Responsible for conceptualizing, building and leading in the development of breakthrough approaches which result in process improvements. * Responsible for the management of control equipment specifications, sensors, vendors and process control software development. * Establishes and implements area process optimization goals and monitors its performance. * Apply control theory to design, test, troubleshoot, and oversee implementation of new processes and equipment. * Identify and develop new control schemes for retrofits and existing systems. * Troubleshoot hardware, software, and instrument problems and work with Instrument Technicians, and Electricians on advanced control systems. * Create and implement new strategies to improve process efficiency, as well as supporting start-up activities. * Responsible for creating and/or maintaining automation processes. * Interface with all levels of Engineering and Production staff to provide design, estimating, engineering and implementation of electrical and process control systems. * Coordinate and facilitate user training for automated systems.
