Project Overview:
Bechtel is designing, constructing, and commissioning the world’s largest radioactive waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy at the Hanford Site in southeastern Washington State. The Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant will use vitrification technology to process and solidify 56 million gallons (210 million liters) of radioactive and chemical waste stored at the Hanford site, which is a byproduct of plutonium production during World War II and the Cold War era. The project is the largest undertaking of its kind and one of DOE’s most technically challenging cleanup projects. Its construction spans 65 acres (26 hectares) with four major nuclear facilities Pretreatment, Low-Activity Waste Vitrification, High-Level Waste Vitrification and Analytical Laboratory as well as operations and maintenance buildings, utilities, other support facilities.
Job Summary:
Assigned to the project team as a representative of the Construction functional group and serves as a link between Construction and other members of the project team. Ensures that construction requirements are made known to the project team in a timely manner and obtains construction responses to the needs of other members of the project team. Based to Construction, reporting to the Lead Construction Training Coordinator, the Construction Training Coordinator helps ensure project training requirements required by construction or applicable to construction site personnel are efficiently and effectively established and managed. #LI-CL1
Major Responsibilities:
Responsible for the development and maintenance of LMS training profiles for construction site personnel, based on classifications of employees, disciplines, roles, and/or specific responsibilities.
Responsible for ensuring construction training requirements are assigned to project employees in other functions/departments as required.
Helps ensure individuals assigned to work activities possess the skills and knowledge needed to accomplish their assigned tasks and that the level of training received is commensurate with the level of risk associated and the activity being performed.
Ensure the LMS is updated with the required training for the position or job function determined by Construction.
Works proactively and coordinates and interfaces with WTCC and WTP Training management and staff.
Can act independently as a point of contact for construction-related training inquiries.
Responsible for the creation of training qualification descriptions as applicable to procedures, OSHA Regulations, CFRs, and FMCSR.
Responsible for data entry and reconciliation of training information put into the learning management system.
Help with onboarding processing as needed.
Responsible for assisting with the scheduling of training for construction craft professionals.
Help with any requested training reports and periodic assessments of training.
Support development and implementation of the project training plan for construction which supports the Construction Requirements Area.
Coordinate with construction management to identify work situations requiring preventive or remedial training for employees.
Ensure the completion of all required training (baseline, project-specific, continuing) is documented and tracked in the individual’s training profile within LMS.
Help ensure individuals complete their required training in a timely manner.
Assist in the scheduling and execution of training.
Arrange appropriate presenters and classrooms for training sessions.
In conjunction with the Training Departments, organizes and develops training materials, reference library, testing and evaluation procedures, multimedia visual aids and other educational materials.
Develop and implement methods to measure learning and to evaluate effectiveness of training presentations and programs.
Monitor and coordinate to see that contractors implement training to employer personnel as required under the contracts.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Develop and maintain Construction Department Training Metrics.
Participate in, or performs, management assessments and surveillances.
Support the development of materials, scheduling training, conducting training, documentation of course attendance, development, and maintenance of metrics.
Education and Experience Requirements:
University Hire with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience.
Possess the right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship.
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check, including verification of employment, education, and travel.
Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.
Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs which may require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, using fall protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE), walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, and maneuvering around very small and/or confined spaces.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Extensive experience with knowledge of learning management systems/applications and training procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to communicate to groups in a classroom and non-classroom setting.
Ability to plan, organize, implement, and evaluate training programs.
Good interpersonal skills.
Service based attitude and approach.
Experience working with US Building Trade Unions and craft professionals.
Previous WTP, DOE, or DOD experience with construction on a nuclear facility.
Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and technical database applications.
