This is a Job Description for a Cost Accounting Analyst position with a company in Richland, MS.
Summary: This role will report directly to the Controller, in Richland, MS. Not a remote position. The ideal candidate is a self-starting, motivated individual with a positive attitude who wants to be involved in maintaining accuracy and accountability within the Accounting Department. They will work well as an individual and within a team. Must have experience within cost accounting and general accounting, or audit/internal audit sufficient to provide working knowledge of analyzing significant account variances, accruals, manual journals, reconciling the general ledger, assisting in month end close processes, and quarterly reporting. Prefer 3+ years of experience. · Create and maintain an organized digital and physical work environment. Works transparently within shared drives and Teams rooms groups.
Duties & Responsibilities: Communicates professionally across all communication methods (in-person, via email, via Teams, via phone, etc...) Comfortable working within and maintaining compliance within strong process environments. Detail oriented. Maintains a clear record of work and coordinates and maintains appropriate review/approval signatures for required audit evidence for SOX. Open to learning new software and comfortable working within various non-integrated software/programs to coordinate and consolidate data deliverables. Generate & distribute data reports, as needed. Cost Accounting knowledge and familiarity with categorical coding for revenues and expenses for financial reporting transparency and accuracy. Provide support to accounting department and other lines of business to coordinate accurate and consistent coding throughout organization. Draft, coordinate for review/approval, and enter manual journals. Data entry for budget and other accounting project support, as needed. Working knowledge of Excel functional tools & formulas such as pivot tables, vLookup, xLookup, conditional formatting, filters, etc... required. Candidate must be independently motivated and driven. Be able to take daily/weekly/monthly tasks and translate the requests into self-managed projects. Candidate needs to be comfortable with ambiguity for various projects assigned as to the final deliverable. Report any problems to your Controller, and perform other duties as assigned.

Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times. Report to work by the established start time, and be willing to work 8-hour days during regular weeks. Be able to work overtime when required. We expect some overtime during month end close, and there is potential for some weekend work during quarter close, infrequently there are additional special projects with hard deadlines that require overtime. Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. If a worksite is visited, wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA.
