Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Engineer to join our engineering department. The Senior Engineer will be responsible for leading and overseeing various engineering projects, providing technical expertise, and mentoring junior engineers. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in engineering principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Provides day-to-day problem-solving support to production, development and research operations
Trouble shoots material, process and equipment issues, identifies root cause and implements corrective action
Daily monitor of metrics, identifying special and common causes
Create and update manufacturing procedures to maximize process efficiency
Lead and be team member of manufacturing cost reduction and product/process improvement DMAIC projects (product design, materials, processes, tooling, quality control, production equipment capabilities). Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other stakeholders.
Supports new product introductions through equipment installation, process certification, documentation, and training.
Assures safety of operators and equipment and Complies with safety and environmental regulations
Provide guideline to technicians
Estimate production times, personnel requirements, and related costs to provide information to drive management decisions.
Provide technical expertise and guidance to the team, assisting them in resolving complex technical issues and ensuring high-quality outputs.
Experiences/Education - Required
Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering degree or equivalent combination of engineering degree
5+ years engineering experience
Bilingual (very fluent in english)
Ability to identify potential process problems and implement effective solutions
Experience applying statistic tools
Demonstrates methodic analytical skills
Ability to effectively communicate at different organizational levels
Ability to coordinate a group of individuals from external departments to fix an issue
Experiences/Education - Desired
Six Sigma Green Belt certification
Knowledge of cable manufacturing process and equipment
Manufacturing experience and ability to work in a manufacturing environment
SAP knowledge
Engineering software and tools, including CAD software, simulation tools, and project management software
