Process Engineer

Purpose of Position.

Develop new manufacturing processes, technologies and methods, Improve existing manufacturing processes and capabilities, Develop and document process controls, Develop methods and processes for the manufacture of new products, Support manufacturing improvement initiatives, including variability reduction, defect reduction, process control improvement.

Responsibilities and tasks of the position.

• Plan, organize and execute work-streams on projects to deliver process improvement

• Evaluate process cost, quality, and capability alternatives, institutes continuous improvements to existing manufacturing operations through process automation/semi-automation

• Project work scope typically includes equipment selection (design, development)manufacturing installation, start-up and acceptance (Pilot, Pre-Pro Runs & EEM)

• Role includes individual contributor and project work-stream leadership responsibilities

• Develop and update manufacturing process documentation, (MPIs, VAs, PM/AC along with Maintenance Department)

• Work with and facilitate alignment between manufacturing, development and upstream process experts to deliver improvement of finishing technology capabilities

• Manage internal Corning resources to complete project deliverables

• Interface with external machine builders, system integrators, and suppliers to specify and deliver fully integrated process machine systems on-time, on-budget and fulfilling the technical scope when is appropriated

• Apply knowledge of engineering principles and methods to resolve challenges

• Utilize basic statistical tools, engineering data, and DMAIC/DESGN/Lean methodologies to develop process understanding to support robust manufacturing processes.

• Support execution of roadmap and project portfolio

• Elaborate/propose product and process improvement qualification plans. Complete technical reports for internal publication

• Support problem-solving in manufacturing, including root cause identification and resolution

• .Apply process engineering knowledge, skills and expertise from concept through delivery of process and equipment at production areas.

Minimum Knowledge and Skill Requirements.

Education

• Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electronic, Industrial Engineering or related.

Work Experience

• 0 - 2 year experience in manufacturing engineering

Additional Skills

Required

• English skills 70%

• Yellow Belt Certification

• Six Sigma knowledge, understanding of statistical analysis (histograms, regression analysis, standard deviation, GR&R, DOE etc.)

• Lean Manufacturing knowledge

• Problem solving processes understanding

• Project Management knowledge

• Self-starter who is able to meet expectations for their objectives and timelines with appropriate supervision.

• PAQ Green Belt Certification

• Lean Certification

• This role may require up to 20% travel based on business needs
