Responsibilities

Desciption:

V2X specializes in management and technology support services for a variety of federal agencies and commercial organizations. We have an opportunity for a Technical Writer supporting the US Navy and FMS users. Documents to be developed include user’s manuals, software installation manuals, reference guides, trainee guides, lesson plans, training slides, and other related material.

Key Responsibilites:

  • Writes, edits, and reviews user manuals, instructional/process/business/technical/project documents, for IT hardware/software, and other company purposes.

  • Prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documents, including software and systems engineering, system operations, testing, training, and user.

  • Conduct regular reviews and updates of systems documentation to reflect changes, enhancements, and bug fixes, ensuring that documentation remains accurate and up to date throughout the project.

  • Write, format, edit, review, and proof procedural and technical information for technical and nontechnical.

  • Be involved in the development and collection of performance metrics for monthly reporting and for use in developiong/improving the documentation process.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Writing, Computer Science, or a related field.

    Experience

  • Three (3) years’ experience in technical writing.

  • Experience developing software user and/or system administrator manuals.

  • Experience developing software user and/or system administrator training materials.

  • Candidate must be able to analyze and research software functions using a variety of technical source materials to develop documentation for the end user.

  • The ability to work independently with limited guidance yet function as a member of a team.

  • Comfort in switching priorities or tasking and working on multiple tasks as schedules change.

    Other Requirements:

  • Must have a Level Secret security clearance.

  • Must be a US Citizen.

    Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience developing documentation and training for military computer systems, specifically JMPS.

  • Experience with system administration or operations of military planning systems in the aviation field, specifically with JMPS.

  • Experience with developing and authoring of video or multimedia content is a plus.

  • Candidate familiarity with military documentation and training development using current DoD and NAVAIR specifications and standards including but not limited to NAVEDTRA 130, NAVAIR 00-25-100, NAVAIR 00-25-604, MIL-STD-3001, MIL-STD-38784, and MIL-STD-24784.

  • Experience with XML authoring.

  • Experience with DoD and NAVAIR documentation acquisition processes.

  • Possess both analytical and interpersonal skills.

  • Good problem-solving, negotiation, and organizational skills/techniques

    Business Partner/Effective Communicator:

  • The candidate must have English language skills to communicate and negotiate with vendors.

  • Strong communicator must be able to communicate clearly both in writing and orally.

  • Ability to train, lead projects, and direct employees.

  • Customer service-oriented, detail-focused, proactive behavior, and multi-tasking capability are also essential.

    Software:

  • Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Outlook

  • SharePoint

  • Personal computer, printer, copy machine and other general office equipment.
