Staff Software Developer in Test, Discover - Reston

Why We Have This Role

As a Staff Software Engineer in Test on the XM Discover Platform team, you will be collaborating with other progressive engineers to bring our software to the next levels of scalability, performance, security, and functionality. This stack processes very large amounts of free-form data using a variety of technologies such as Java, Go, Elastic, Kafka, Spring, Docker, Kubernetes, Postgres, Jenkins, Ansible, EKS, and others. You will have a strong influence on design and implementation, and will be a valuable mentor to other engineers in the organization.

Things You’ll Do

  • Design and implement comprehensive testing strategies, frameworks, and automation tools

  • Collaborate with developers, product owners, and stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure quality

  • Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline testing processes

  • Develop and execute automated tests for the entire architecture and its components

  • Identify and prioritize critical test cases based on risk and impact

  • Analyze test results, investigate failures, and work with the team to resolve issues

  • Continuously improve testing processes, optimizing for efficiency and effectiveness

  • Ensure the security and performance of the platform through rigorous testing

  • Dive deep into Kubernetes and container orchestration to ensure seamless deployment and scalability

What We’re Looking For On Your Resume

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related field

  • 7+ years of experience in software testing, with a focus on automation and enterprise-scale systems

  • Strong knowledge of testing methodologies, frameworks, and tools

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Go, Python, and JavaScript

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Passion for quality, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset
