Responsibilities

Noblis is seeking a post-doctoral candidate with a strong background in aerosol science to work with Noblis subject matter experts and scientists to design and execute experiments to:

• Understand the mechanisms of aerosol disease transmission.

• Develop novel approaches and workflows to detect chemical and biological aerosols in a complex environment.

• Understand the fate of infectious aerosols and the impact on consequences (ex: infectious dose, disease progression).

• Work with a multidisciplinary team (ex: microbiologists, molecular biologists, and data scientists) to apply innovative workflows, such as next generation sequencing (NGS) and machine learning, to aerosol detection.

This is a full-time, one year fellowship position with the option for a second year, with the potential opportunity to join Noblis as a full-time employee.

• Must be willing to work on-site in a laboratory setting for at least 3 days a week.

• Design and perform lab- and informatics-based experiments.

• Develop aerosol detection experiments in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team of microbiologists, molecular biologists, and data scientists.

• Stay abreast of the latest advances aerosol science.

• Actively participate in scientific/industry symposium, conferences, and professional societies.

• Present at scientific conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals.

• Contribute technical content to grants, proposals, white papers, and internal/external documents.

• Update Health and Safety Assement documents as needed.

• Work autonomously and in a team environment with a positive collegial attitude.

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. in civil engineering, or similar area of study conferred within last 5 years

• A strong understanding of aerosol science and infectious disease transmission.

• A strong publication record.

• Ability to explain deep technical concepts to non-experts.

• Strong organizational and communication skills.

• A high degree of ethical and scientific standards.

Security Clearance Requirement :

The candidate must be a U.S. citizen with a government clearance or the ability to obtain one.

Salary at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and are based on full time status. Part time staff receive a prorated salary based on regularly scheduled hours. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represents the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements), and is just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package for employees.

USD $60,000.00 - USD $120,000.00 /Yr.
